Geography
Ethiopia is in what is called “the Horn of Africa” and is bordered by: Eritrea, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, and Djibouti. Ethiopia is located in northeast Africa. Ethiopia has an area of 1,127,127 square kilometers, and is one of the largest countries in Africa, and is a little under twice the size of Texas! Ethiopia is full of mountain ranges, but also has flat lands. A common tourist site in Ethiopia is Lalibela, a stone church built in the Zagwe dynasty, the Blue Nile falls is another popular site for tourists.

Ethiopia has a large population of over 100 million people and is home to many ethnic groups. Starvation has played a big role in Ethiopia’s past, but also in the present time. Religion has played a significant role in boosting the population, and the population has played a big role in starvation.

Ethiopia is home to many plants and animals, here is a small list: Ethiopian wolf, Walia Ibex, the mountain nyla, Somali wild donkey, the yellow fronted parrot, and the gelada baboon. Sadly a lot of animals in Ethiopia are endangered, such as the walia ibex, or the Ethiopian wolf. Ethiopia is also home to lots of plants like: jasmine, firethorn, frankincense and more! Ethiopia is 11,007.36 km from Massachusetts.
History
Ethiopia is known as the oldest country to have gained their independence in Africa, and has been colonized only once ( by Italy.) In 1973 emperor Haile Selassie was overthrown by the military and Ethiopia became a socialist country. Ethiopia suffered from poverty and was robbed of their natural resources and is now overwhelmed with starvation.
Food
An average lunch in Ethiopia would look like: A sponge like bread called injera, raw meats, lentils, different sauces and veggies. For dinner you would have what is called: ting ting fit fit, which is a combination of leftovers from your previous meal.
Climate facts
Ethiopia is full of mountains and hill sides, but also has grasslands. In the Mountain tops the average temperature is 57- 68 F, and in the flat lands the temperature varies from: 77-86 F.
