Make-up lab for absent students only!

Virtual lactase lab

Read this carefully!

You will complete the hands-on potato lab if you are in class the day of the lab. The hands-on lab will need to be completed in 207, either during class or any other time that you arrange with me. (The online virtual lactase lab can be completed from any computer with internet. This is only for people who are absent the day of the lab in class.) Whichever lab you compete must be brought to the next class when you take the quiz.

Virtual Enzyme Lab

Hints:

You MAY NOT work with anyone if you complete this lab. It is completely individual work.

Pick up a paper copy of the "Virtual Lab: Enzyme Controlled Reactions." (It is also available below, if you are out of class when you complete this. If you do not have access to a printer, you may just copy the document and complete it electronically.)

1. Click here to access the McGraw-Hill online enzyme lab.

2. Right-click on the instructions and "open link in new tab."

3. The "Post Lab Quiz and Lab Report" is the paper you picked up in class. No need to complete it twice.

4. Once you have completed the worksheet, use a sheet of graph paper to create the following graph:

Use "pH" as your independent variable (x-axis).

Use "Number of molecules of product formed per minute" as your dependent variable (y-axis).

Graph all five substrate concentrations on one graph, using a different color for each substrate concentration. Before you start, figure out whether a line graph or a bar graph is appropriate.

Be sure your graph has an appropriate title.
