Data: Information collected through observation and/or experimentation.

Quantitative Data = quantity, cuantos, or numbers

Examples:

How many? 3

Qualitative = quality, or descriptions (no numbers)

Examples:

How does the fur feel? soft

What color is it? green

Do this on a Google Doc or in your science notebook.

Write the heading, "Collecting and analyzing data" at the top of the page.

1. List your five senses.

2. Write 2 sentences using the word 'observation' correctly. (You may use any form of the word, including observe, observed, observing, etc.)

Ex. When I went to the baseball game, I observed the ball flying off the bat, the smell of popcorn in the air, and the feel of rain on my skin.

3. Write 2 sentences using the word 'inference' correctly. (You may use any form of the word, including infer, inferred, inferring, etc.)

Ex. I saw a bundle of twigs up high in a tree. A squirrel ran up with a nut and left without it. After watching her do this about five times, I inferred that the bundle of sticks was her nest and she was feeding her babies.
