Who Am I?

Mrs. Forbes

Something unique about me

During my 30+ years as an educator, I have worked as an English teacher, Resource teacher, GED tutor, Learning Center director, Home-bound instructor, Curriculum developer and Writing Center co-teacher.

Strengths and talents

I am a good listener and I try to look beyond the behavior to get to the reason behind it.

I am really good at finding resources and ideas.

Mrs. Forbes' goals

Goal #1: I would like to heal my Achilles tendon.

a. I will take my anti-inflammatory medicine.

b. I will ice my ankle twice each day.

c. I will do my suggested mobility exercises daily, even when it's uncomfortable.

Goal #2: I hope that all my students will earn a 'C' or better and pass the SOL test.

a. I will help students make revisions until they are happy with their grades.

b. I will be available before and after school every Wednesday and during PRIME on Thursdays if students want extra help.

c. I will work to help students become better organized and aware of the need to prioritize their responsibilities.

In the future...

In five years, I see myself...spending more time traveling and sightseeing with my husband. I also see myself owning a miniature pot belly pig.

In ten years, I see myself...retired from daily teaching, but involved with tutoring, Mobile Hope and Meals on Wheels. I hope to be able to spend lots of time with my granddaughter and hopefully a few more grandchildren.

One thing I wish my students (teachers) knew about me is...

I take my job seriously. I have been teaching a long time and I have (almost) raised three children. I have watched too many students give up when they could have succeeded with just a little more time. I like to help students in this situation find the time to stay. There's no better feeling than watching that student walk across the stage and accept their diploma.
