Preparing Students for Canvas

Students already have accounts!
Have them navigate to kernhigh.instructure.com and log in.

Just like teachers, students will use their Microsoft Windows credentials to log in.
Student email - SixDigitUID@kernhigh.org
Student password - Whatever they set as their password for Windows (not Chrome)

If a student cannot log in, they may send an email to studentsupport@kernhigh.org to have their password reset. It is not the same as their Chromebook password.

One of the best practices for helping your students use Canvas is to walk them through how you learned to do it. Your personal experience is invaluable here.

However, that is not always practical! Here is an overview video you can share with students to help them get started, directly from Canvas Guides.

Canvas also has an extensive library of videos and guides designed specifically for students. However, it is important to know that many of the guides are designed for college-level students, as Canvas originated as a tool for colleges and universities.

Have no fear! We will soon update our site with materials and videos to help guide your students into Canvas, including some actual in Canvas modules that you can quickly import into your courses!
