Document Cameras

Document Cameras

There are a few different types of document cameras across the district. These could be the HoverCam Flex or the Elmo TT-02RX or other variety of camera. These useful tools work similarly to overhead projectors in that a teacher can write on a document and project it to students.

Despite similar functions in the classroom, HoverCam and Elmo take different approaches.

HoverCams utilize a software application on a desktop in order to function. This tool is more robust and features several digital tools that can be helpful in instruction. The slight tradeoff here is that HoverCams have a slight delay when students are viewing.

Elmos are fed directly to the projector which means that there is little to no delay in displaying actions on these cameras. These also have an app called Image Mate that allows for the more robust features like on-screen annotation.

Both can be used as scanners for applications like Illuminate and Synergy Assessments.
