It's official – October Count Day this year is Monday, October 3. The most important action you can take to support school funding is to ensure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to be sure your student engages in school that day.

Please help us ensure an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.  If your student will be absent on Monday, October 3 due to illness, call our attendance line, 303-982-5550 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Monday, October 3.

Thank you for your support of Ralston Valley High School. Every student counts!

Picture Retake Day is October 5!

Lifetouch will be at RVHS during lunches on October 5 for picture retakes.  Click here for additional details, including ordering information.

For students in Grades 9-11, the picture taken by Lifetouch will be included in the yearbook.  Seniors should submit a senior picture to be included in the yearbook.  The deadline for all senior photos is October 21. Visit the RVHS Yearbook website for more information.

Thank You to PTSA!

On behalf of all of our RV teachers, counselors and administration, we would like to extend a  HUGE thank you to PTSA for providing dinner during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday- it is greatly appreciated!

This past Wednesday Ralston Valley's Student Body President, Finley Timon and Student Body Vice President, Ryan Mooney, joined Ralston Valley's admin team in providing lunch for the Arvada PD.  After the recent loss of Officer, Dillon Vakoff, Ralston Valley wanted to send a token of appreciation and support to the men and women that serve and protect our streets.  Thank you to our community sponsors for their contributions.  Randi's Pizza donated antipasto trays and Vinnola's Italian Bakery donated sacked lunches.

athletics

Congratulations to golfers: Jordan McCaslin, Deacon Colwell, Makian Maydew.  They are heading to the CHSAA State Golf Tournament on October 3rd and 4th.   Deacon placed third at the Western Regional in Fruita this week.  Jordan and Makian placed high enough to help Ralston Valley qualify enough golfers to be able to compete for the team championship.  Go get 'em.

Softball has a busy week coming up.  They play tonight at Dakota Ridge in a make up game.

Next week they play:

Monday @ Legacy

Wednesday @ Lakewood

Thursday host Lutheran

Saturday @ Frederick.

These ladies are playing great and are up for the task.

Volleyball had a quiet week this week.  Their lone match of the week resulted in a 3-0 sweep of Golden.  They will start league play this coming Tuesday at Valor Christian and then have their homecoming volleyball match on Thursday against Bear Creek.

Our football team is back on the road tonight at Valor Christian for another top ten showdown.  The #3 Mustangs are looking to improve on their impressive 3-1 start that includes victories over two different #2 teams.  Valor is currently ranked #6 in the State of Colorado.  The football team will finally return home for next week's Homecoming game against Lakewood on Friday night at NAAC.

Boy's soccer recorded another shutout this week on the road in Fort Collins.  They earned a 2-0 over Rocky Mountain.  The Soccer team opens up league play with their homecoming game this Thursday at 5:00 against Lakewood at NAAC.

Cross Country had a great meet last Friday at the Stenger Soccer Complex.  The Girls placed 3rd as a team and the boys took 4th.  Top ten individual finishes from Allie Braney (5th), Eliana DiManna (6th), and Nick Schweiker (8th).  The teams travel to Clement Park this afternoon for the Dave Sanders Invite.  Good Luck.

Tennis qualified for the first ever State Dual Team Championships as the number 6 seed.  They will take on #11 Mountain Vista later next week.  They have also positioned themselves to hold Regionals for the traditional individual/team championships later this month.  Congratulations!!!

Please welcome Coach Nacarrato:  After an extensive search, Ralston Valley is excited to announce the hiring of Alexah Naccarato as our new Head Coach for Girl's Lacrosse.  Coach Naccarato brings experience as both a club and high school coach.  Her knowledge of the game and passion for kids made here a great candidate.  Looking forward to seeing her on the sidelines this Spring.

Advisement Corner

Ninth Grade Advisement

Coming up in Advisement, our ninth-grade students will have the opportunity to visit with upperclassman mentors about Homecoming week and what to expect concerning daily activities.

They also will be asked to complete a needs assessment. The counseling department creates a video to explain the importance of the assessment. The assessment is given after the first six weeks of school to see how the student body is doing and how students are adapting to high school. The survey is anonymous and it asks questions in regards to: Studying and sleeping habits, involvement in extracurricular activities, and mental health. Once the data is collected, the counseling department uses it to help guide them on the needs of freshmen and how to better serve them.

RVHS Advanced Placement Exam Information
