Course Selection for 2023-2024 (cont.)
Beginning next week, counselors will introduce the course selection process to students in grades 9, 10, and 11.
When engaging in the process of selecting courses for the 2023-24 school year, students and families should consider the following:
Enrollment Requirements
Students in Grades 9-11 are required to be enrolled in six classes each semester. Students in Grade 12 are required to be enrolled in five classes each semester. Students may take an extra class if enrolled in a performing arts course, Student Government, or with administrative approval.
Students must receive approval from their counselor before enrolling in courses not taken at RVHS or Warren Tech. Credit for courses taken outside RVHS or Warren Tech may not be accepted as credits toward graduation.
Schedule Changes/Adjustments
Students should choose courses wisely during the selection process because changes are often not possible at the beginning of the semester.
Dropping a year-long course at semester is possible only if a student has been misplaced and an application for dropping a year-long course has been submitted.
Changes will only be made for incorrect level, prior semester failure, or class conflict.
Changes will not be made for teacher/period preference.
Course Selection Presentation dates (during student's English class):
Current 9th Graders: February 15-16, 2023
Current 10th Graders: February 21-22, 2023
Current 11th Graders: February 28-March 1, 2023

Resource: Robbie's Hope
Each month, a group of students from RV's Student Government will be highlighting a resource for students and their caregivers. This month's theme is technology:
Living in the modern world, teens are susceptible to pressures from the world around them, especially in regard to technology. You don’t have to be a mental health expert to know technology can both help and hinder a teen’s mental health. It’s important to provide guidance to teens on proper technology use. It is equally important that parents and trusted adults model proper use of that same technology. Parents and trusted adults need to be able to have conversations with their teens about the positives and negatives that can come from technology use. Keep in mind, these discussions are a two-way street, not a lecture. The best approach for parents and trusted adults is to approach it from a framework of “let’s learn together.” Linked below is our technology handbook that was written by teens, giving parents an alternative perspective on the benefits and dangers of technology. Please utilize this resource to approach how to properly use technology. See our website for more information (robbies-hope.com)
