Course Selection for 2023-2024

In English/Lang Arts classes, current RVHS students will receive Course Selection forms and information about electives from counselors.  During these meetings, counselors will present information about choosing classes and will show students how to view teachers’ suggested placements in the Academic Plan tab in Campus.  Grade level course selection forms and the presentations shared with students will be made available on the RVHS website as the dates for the meetings approach.  

February 15 -16, 2023:  Course selection presentation & materials distribution for current 9th graders.


February 21- 22, 2023:  Course selection presentation & materials distribution for current 10th graders.

February 28 - March 1, 2023: Course selection presentation & materials distribution for current 11th graders.

Panorama Education Student Survey 

Jeffco’s Make Your Voice Heard (MYVH) survey is being replaced this year with the Panorama Student survey. This survey will provide national norms around school belonging, school climate, school engagement, teacher-student relationships, rigorous expectations, school safety, and math identity. The Panorama student survey will be administered to all students in grades six through twelve.  

Ralston Valley High School will administer this survey on February 28th in classes.

SOPHOMORES - Apply for National Honor Society

Attention Sophomores with a weighted GPA of 3.6 or higher, you are invited to join the Ralston Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society.  You should have received an invitation to apply earlier this week. If you did not receive an invitation to apply, but believe you should have, please speak in person with Mrs. Reid or Mrs. Rosenthal, both located in Science.  All completed applications are due no later than March 10th at 3:10 p.m.  No late or incomplete applications will be considered.  Early submission is encouraged.

JUNIORS- SAT Essay Opt In

Students who wish to take the optional essay for SAT must register in advance.  The essay registration window is  January 17- February 16.  This will be the only opportunity for students who wish to take the optional essay to add it to their April school day test registration.  Interested students should register either through their online College Board account or by calling the College Board at 866-917-9030 option 2.  Click here for more information about the optional essay.

SAVE THE DATE- PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 16 from 4:00-7:00 p.m..  As always, teachers will be available in the Main and Small gyms in an open house-style format.  We will ask that conferences are limited to 5 minutes, so feel free to make an appointment for another time if more than 5 minutes is needed.

Make-A-Wish Week was a HUGE Success!

The assembly for Make-A-Wish on Thursday was a blast!  Our Wish Kid Sawyer was serenaded by Elsa from "Frozen", the RV Dance Team gave a stunning performance, and students cozied up to some local alpacas, all to raise money for a wonderful cause.  There is still time to bid on the Silent Auction items, check out the link below.  Thank you to the amazing RV community for making this a success, and for the hard work of Student Government and Mrs. Braketa.

Membership - The Ralston Valley PTSA invites you to join, if you haven't already done so, by following the link below.  This is an opportunity to support the PTSA in their efforts to support Ralston Valley students and staff.  The monies raised go to support the staff during conferences and teacher appreciation week by providing snacks, lunch, and dinner.  Ralston Valley PTSA also supports a scholarship for senior members of the PTSA.  In order to be eligible for the scholarship the student needs to be a member of the PTSA.

Shoutout to our amazing Mustang musicians, Kira Coverdal, Isabella Toledo-Howlett, Quinn Barry, Jada Janson, Seri Schneider, Gabriella Ogden, Seth Allen, Hunter Burrus, Grant Walker, Ella Graves, Jimi Adams, Adam Schulthess, Lilly Gustafson, and Grace Cooke! They played in the Jeffco Honor Band and Orchestra last week and had the opportunity to work with world class musicians and educators, Dr.  Wesley Broadnax and Chris Pilsner.

Tuesday night saw our dance team perform all three of their routines that they will be performing at Nationals in Florida next week.  Family, friends, and community members packed the bleachers to send them off in style.  They performed their, jazz, gameday, and traditional poms routines.  Good luck next week to our dancers!  


Shout out to JV Poms on their 3rd place finish at JV State last weekend.  This is the highest finish at JV State in program history.


Ralston Valley Wrestling is at Chatfield High School tonight competing in the League Championships.  Good luck to all of our wrestlers as they compete for all-conference honors.  They have their final week of the regular season next week when they welcome Regis on Thursday Night.


Hockey beat then #1 Cherry Creek 7-0 last week.  This is the second time they have beat a #1 team this year.  Currently ranked #6, they have a pair of home games this weekend.  Tonight against Heritage and tomorrow against Regis.  Both are at APEX.


Boys Basketball went 2-0 this week with wins over Lakewood and Chatfield.  They have a huge game at Broomfield tomorrow night and then turn around and play a big game against Columbine at home on Monday.  Both of these are makeup games from snow days in December and January.


Girls Basketball also went 2-0 this week.  They beat Erie and Chatfield.  Tonight they take on Valor in a matchup for first place in Jeffco 5A.  Next week also has two big games with Columbine on Wednesday and Arvada West on Saturday.


The Swim and Dive season is quickly coming to an end for our girls swim team.  We currently have more than a dozen swimmers and divers qualified for state and are working to get a few more qualified.  Come and root them on next Friday and Saturday at Meyers Pool for the league championships.  

Sports Registration is now open for all Spring Sports.  Registration for Boys Swim and Dive is due by 3:00 p.m. on 2/17.  All other Spring sports registrations are due by 3:00 p.m. on 2/24.  Your student will need to have had a physical within the last 365 days to register.  The online registration must be completed prior to your student being allowed to participate in practices and tryouts.  Spring Sports include:

February 1st is the next National Letter of Intent Day.  Ralston Valley will be hosting a ceremony to recognize our student-athletes that are signing a National Letter of Intent to continue to play sports at the next level.  If your student would like to be recognized in our ceremony, please have them see Mrs. Beauchamp in the Main Office by the end of the day on Monday. 

off campus policy

Due to the nature of our campus, we do not allow students to walk off campus during the school day.  


9th-grade students are not allowed off campus at any point during the school day unless they leave with their parent/guardians. 


If your 10th-grade student is driving, they may leave campus with parental permission.  They are expected to follow local and state driving laws.  Please click on this FORM to give your sophomore child the ability to leave campus with your permission.  


Our campus is not closed to our 11th and 12th-grade students and they may leave campus.

Ninth Grade Advisement

Students have enjoyed a fun filled week as we celebrated and raised money for Make a Wish. On Monday in Advisement, we will continue to focus on what Executive Functioning Skills are and how they can enhance our learning and organization in every aspect of life. 

As a visual reminder, we will ask students to fill out a post it note with:  Three things that they can intentionally do to help them be successful.

We have updated our "How to find scholarships" guide for 2023. If your student is a senior looking for scholarships, this document is the best place for them to start. Seniors received an email this week with this guide and an update on upcoming private local scholarships, a FAFSA step-by-step guide, and a Colorado Scholarship directory. 

Manning Middle School PTA Scholarship

If your senior is a Manning Middle School alum, then they are eligible for a Manning PTA Scholarship.  Two $500 scholarships will be awarded - the due date is April 14, 2023.  Click here for the application. 

Girls Lead the Way STEM Conference

Girls Lead the Way - STEM & Leadership Conference for High School Girls is designed for young women in grades 9-12 interested in being a leader in STEM. Participants will engage in a day-long, interactive, lab and classroom-based conference hosted by the Society of Women Engineers - Mines Collegiate Section.

Women in Law Day @ CU Boulder

The University of Colorado - Boulder Women's Law Caucus invites young women in high school to learn about law school, discover legal career opportunities, and envision themselves pursuing an advanced law degree.  This is a free program that includes a keynote speaker, panel sessions, a mock first-year class, and an opportunity to meet current law students and local attorneys during a networking lunch.

Colorado Health Careers Summer Academy

Arapahoe Community College (ACC) and Community College of Denver (CCD) have created a summer learning opportunity for high school students who are interested in a healthcare career.  Students will gain knowledge of different healthcare fields, become self-aware of their aptitudes and interests, and obtain direct experience in the industry through virtual and in-person formats.  Click here for more information and to apply.

Mustang High School Leaders at Outdoor Lab in the News

RV students were interviewed by KVDR Fox 31, working as Outdoor Lab High School leaders that accompanied 6th-grade students from Drake MS.  Winter at Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab site means that every day is a snow day, and students learn not behind a desk, but by doing.  “We went on an ecosystem hike. We were just showing the kids abiotic and biotic interactions, nonliving and living things in the environment,” said Jackson Spiwak, Mustang Senior.  If your student is interested in becoming an Outdoor Lab High School leader, please have them see their counselor.

Wish Week Spirit Fun

During the week, many students and staff participated in various spirit days.  They each donated $2.00 to Make-A-Wish to wear hats all day on Monday, and dressed for their favorite Disney characters on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we wore comfy clothes and on Thursday, each class wore different colors of the rainbow to honor our Make-a-Wish student, Sawyer.  On Friday, students brought "Anything but a backpack" to school, with some very creative ideas.

Mr. Kuzmich challenged Peyton Knoebel and Gunner Schoepflin to a hot wing eating contest.  Combined, they raised over $8500 for Make-A-Wish!  

World Languages Cook Authentic Recipes

In the World Language department, all of the Spanish I teachers did cooking demonstrations this week.  Here are Senora Parker's and Senora Hayes' classes, working on a recipe for fresh salsa. 

Significant Special Needs Students Carnation Cart is Back!

SSN students completed another successful Carnation Cart this week.  Flowers were dyed on Tuesday, then sold during lunches on Thursday for Make-A-Wish.  The classroom was really excited that their profits went to a good cause, and continued to practice important skills such as marketing, customer service, and mathematics.

French 2 Classes Learn About International Holidays

Madame Leslie's and Madame Frie's French 2 classes constructed puppets and staging sets, and put on puppet shows this week.  As a topic, they researched French holidays and how the holidays are observed and celebrated in France, and taught the class using a dialogue between the puppets. 

Student Parking Passes

Parking passes will be for sale again beginning January 6.  If students have not already purchased a 2022-2023 parking pass and wish to, they will be sold from Jan. 6- Jan. 31.  Please follow these steps to ensure a parking pass is purchased before they sell out.


*Students who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch should visit the finance office before completing any of the above steps. 

*Parking passes will be enforced beginning Feb. 1st.
