In accordance with district policy, absences of one or more days require a Pre-Arranged Absence Form . Criteria for approved absences are listed on the form, and printed copies are available in the attendance office.
Any student who wishes to park their vehicle in the RVHS student parking lots must have a parking tag. All school registration requirements must be met before obtaining a parking tag, including any fees and fines paid.
All 11th and 12th graders who have already purchased a parking tag for the main student lot can pick it up in the Finance Office. Tickets will be issued for those who do not have the appropriate parking tag. If there are no parking spaces available when they arrive, they should park in the overflow lot off of Alkire St. They cannot park illegally.
Sophomores with a parking tag, please be reminded that you cannot park in the senior/junior lot, you must only park in the North Lot off of Alkire St.
All students who park illegally or in the incorrect lot will be ticketed. Tickets must be paid in a timely manner so students can retain their parking tag.
At this time, we are sold out of parking tags for all student lots. If we are able to offer more tags, we will include that information in a future newsletter.
All concerns regarding parking passes should be addressed with campus supervisors.
It is a great time to remind everyone to be thoughtful of our neighbors and student body during drop off and pick up. We must keep the right of way clear for emergency vehicles and through traffic. With only one road to enter and exit a building this size, with this many people, the roads at the school will always be congested. There are a few things we can do as a Ralston Valley community to help make these busy times of day run as smoothly as possible.
Main Entrance - Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. and we ask that you do not arrive to pick up your student and park in the loop before 3:00 p.m. Please be sure to pull as far forward as you can in the loop at the front of the school when dropping off or picking up your student. This helps to alleviate backups in the roundabout and get as many cars off of 80th Ave. as quickly as possible. Also, please pick up your student on the outside of the loop, not the inside. We do not want students passing in between cars as this is not safe.
Student Parking Lot - To keep our students safe, please do not park in our student parking lot while you wait to pick up your student(s) after school.
Roundabout - The roundabout is part of the road. Please do not park in the roundabout while waiting for dismissal time. This blocks the flow of eastbound traffic and prevents traffic exiting to the east from leaving campus as well. Please do not stop and pick up your student in the roundabout or on 80th Ave.
Fire Station - As traffic backs up on southbound Alkire, please be sure to leave room for our first responders to exit the firehouse safely and without obstruction. Do not block the exit of their garage.
82nd Ave. - Please pay attention to posted road signs along 82nd Ave. There are multiple speedbumps on 82nd Ave., making it necessary to go the speed limit or slower to ensure safe driving and prevent damage to your vehicle. There are also multiple No Parking signs along 82nd Ave. next to the school's property. Please do not park there to pick up your student. Finally, and most importantly, please do not park across the street and ask for your student to run across 80th Ave. to be picked up. This is highly dangerous!
Thank you for your continued diligence when driving in and around Ralston Valley.
Trick-or-Treat Street
Please join us and encourage your friends and family to bring their trick-or-treaters to RVHS from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for a night of fun on Monday, October 28th! Admission is a can of food or personal care item for the Arvada Community Table OR cash donation for RVHS NHS. Please use the entrance on the southeast side of RVHS at the Math Hall doors in the staff parking lot. After walking through the halls collecting candy from our students, little ones can play carnival games in our cafeteria. See you there!
Great Season for Mustang Mountain Bike Team
The Ralston Valley Mountain Bike Team finished the 2024 season, their most successful to date, with the State Championships in Glenwood Springs. Twenty four RVMTB riders qualified for State Championships, which is the most the team has ever brought to the Championships. Seniors Jack Kardys, Jackson Martin, Jake Behrends (Varsity Boys), and Livia Grau (JV Girls) all ended their high school racing careers with fantastic performances on the challenging course. Congratulations to all of them on four amazing years of racing. Freshman Noah Snelling was our top finisher, moving up 30 places during his race to finish just off the podium in 6th place. In the Varsity Girls race, Clara Appel had a nail-biting sprint finish for 18th place. Mia Ryder rode to a fantastic 21st place in the 113-rider-strong JV Girls field. Gavin Pollock finished in the top 25% of the Sophomore Boys, ending in 31st out of 146 riders. Congratulations to all the other riders on a very special season.
The RVMTB riders and coaches would also like to extend a very special thank you to Billy Kardys (Senior Jack Kardys' father). Billy has been making sure that the entire team is well-fed at races for the last two years. As Jack is graduating in the spring, we will all miss Chef Billy.

Cross Country - Congratulations to Wave Pucket. She finished tenth at Regionals this week and qualified for the State Cross Country Meet next weekend in Colorado Springs. Congratulations to the entire program on a great season.
Volleyball - The team celebrated the seniors on Tuesday night before their game against Valor. Although the outcome was not what they had hoped, the team played hard and sent their seniors out in style. They turned around and headed to Bear Creek on Thursday, coming away with a 3-0 victory. They have a road game at Golden next Tuesday and will head to Colorado Springs for a big tournament to end the regular season.
Flag Football - The Mustangs won their first-ever sanctioned playoff football game on Wednesday 26-6 over Northfield. The team jumped out to a big lead, powered by Ashlyn Callahan's four first-half TD's. Good luck to them on Saturday in the next round where they take on Valor. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 at Jeffco Stadium.
Soccer - This week's Mini Jeffco Tournament ended with a 1-1 draw between Ralston Valley at Columbine at NAAC last night. The Mustangs took down Valor on Monday 3-0 behind a Cooper Hineline hat trick. The regular season has ended and the Mustangs are set to host a first-round playoff game next Wednesday at NAAC. The likely seventh or eighth seed will place them in a great place to make a postseason run.
Football - Currently #5 in the seeding index, Ralston Valley is looking to lock up the 5A Metro League Title tonight at NAAC. With a game lead on Columbine and the head-to-head victory, the Mustangs could clinch the title for the second time in three years. Last Friday, Ralston Valley and Columbine battled to overtime. Leading 35-34 in OT, the defense came up huge with Carter Coorough making the initial hit to stop Columbine's two-point conversion attempt to end the game. Denver East is tonight's opponent for their 7:00 game at NAAC.
Wrestling - Calling all ladies! Are you interested in building physical strength, confidence, mental endurance, and gaining invaluable life skills? If so, wrestling may be for you. That’s right, RV is exploring the viability of expanding our wrestling program to include girls wrestling. There are local opportunities outside of Ralston Valley to get involved in this season. The wrestling season goes from November to February, practice is two to three times a week, and the teams will not be coed. Our first step is gauging the interest level. So… if you are interested in a challenging and fulfilling sport, please take a minute to fill out this form. If you have any questions, please reach out to rvwrestlingboosters@gmail.com.
