athletics

This last week was about as action packed of a week as we could have at Ralston Valley.  Congratulations to all of our athletes on their accomplishments.

Last Saturday saw our Soccer Team pull off the shocker of the State tournament.  They beat #1 and nationally ranked Legacy 1-0 in a hard fought battle that included Evan Bierman making the save of the year on a PK with 1:14 to go.  The rest of the backline played incredibly to preserve the clean sheet.  Wednesday saw Ralston Valley play in their first semifinal game in program history.  After 110 minutes, the game was still tied at 1-1 and went to PK's where the Mustangs fell short 5-4.  Congratulations on a great season.

Congratulations to our Dance Team.  Last Saturday they rocked the house at Ponderosa and were rewarded with multiple team awards.  They captured 1st place and Regional Champions in the Game Day Division and 3rd place in both Jazz and Poms.  JV came through with a 2nd place in the JV Poms Division as well.  Keep up the great work and good luck at next week's Jeffco League Invite.

Our Varsity Cheer team hosted the annual Battle in the Valley Cheer Competition last Saturday.  Our JV Team took home 1st place in the JV Division and our all Freshman Team took home 1st place in the JV Game Day Division.  A big shout out to our Varsity Cheer Team for helping run the event in the gym and our Cheer Boosters for running all the fun in the lobby.  It made for a great day.  All of this was capped off with the World Famous RV Dance Party deejayed by our own Jack Jack.

Last Friday our volleyball team went to Rock Canyon for Regional Volleyball.  The split their two matches, sweeping Denver East and then losing to Regional Champion Rock Canyon.  This brought to end the season for our volleyball team.  A very young, but now experienced team will return next year ready to make a run.  Thank you to our seniors for their leadership and passion this season.

Our football team begins their post season run tonight at NAAC.  They will take on league rival Chatfield at 7:00.  The winner will move on to the quarterfinals next Saturday.

Last but certainly not least, congratulations to student athletes, Amanda Charness and Ellie Uhl.  Both Amanda and Ellie signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday as part of the NCAA's Early Signing Day.  Amanda signed to play lacrosse at Muskingum State University in Ohio.  Ellie signed to play softball at Midwestern State University in Texas.  Both Amanda and Ellie are shining examples of student leaders on our campus.  Both have played multiple sports in their high school careers and most impressively, both have earned multiple academic letter honors while doing so.

off campus policy

Due to the nature of our campus, we do not allow students to walk off campus during the school day.

9th-grade students are not allowed off campus at any point during the school day unless they leave with their parent/guardians.

If your 10th-grade student is driving, they may leave campus with parental permission.  They are expected to follow local and state driving laws.  Please click on this FORM to give your sophomore child the ability to leave campus with your permission.

Our campus is not closed to our 11th and 12th-grade students and they may leave campus.

Gymnasts Compete at State Championship

Congratulations to Gymnastics, with athletes from area schools Pomona and Arvada West along with Ralston Valley, who earned a spot at the state finals competition, and shout out to RV junior Celeste Martinez, for her 3rd consecutive year qualifying for state, well done!

Student Government was asked by the Make-A-Wish Colorado Foundation to host and facilitate a workshop for Colorado high school students. RVHS is recognized as one of the highest fundraising schools in the state for Make-A-Wish and because of our intentionality, creativity, and innovation,  Make-A-Wish continues to seek out our partnership when supporting other schools. Guided by the "WHY" behind Make-A-Wish, students identified individual school strengths and ended with collaboration amongst all 8 schools. The positive impact RVHS students continue to make goes way beyond the walls of Ralston Valley High School, we are ALL proud WISH Heros!

After Mrs. Elliot’s first graders designed and colored monsters, Ms. Kulacz’s Fashion students brought them to life by hand sewing them with felt. On Friday, the Fashion students visited Three Creeks K-8 to give the first grade class their real-life monsters! Each student wrote a short story for their monster with their new Ralston Valley friend. Both classes had so much fun working together and using their imaginations to write a story!

Students in Ms. K’s Culinary Essentials II Class have been studying about beef and had an opportunity to synthesize their learning through a culinary lab where they made beef Vietnamese spring rolls. Students tenderized their beef by cutting the steak against the grain and marinating it. They prepared fresh herbs and vegetables and got to work rolling everything into the soaked rice paper. Students enjoyed the process and especially enjoyed the flavors.
