athletics

The fall regular season is quickly coming to an end.

Coming off of a 3-1 victory on Tuesday over Lakewood, Volleyball will finish off their regular season at home this coming Tuesday against Chatfield.  They have had such great support at home all year and would love to see one more big crowd to see them off to Regionals.

Cross Country finished off their season on Thursday following Regionals.  The kids performed well and had a great time.  There is a real sense of family when you are around this group.  Congratulations on a great season.

Soccer had a great week to end the regular season.  On Monday they came from behind to win 3-2 win against rival Arvada West.  Pablo Molla Tejero came through huge  with a second half hat trick.  Then on Thursday night, the boys shut out Columbine to clinch second place in 5A Jeffco behind Valor and secured a first round home game for next week's State Tournament.  Brackets will be released over the weekend.

After defeating Pomona in a dominating 48-7 last Friday at NAAC, Football is looking to wrap up the 5A Jeffco League Title this Friday.  With a win against defending 4A State Champion Chatfield, the Mustangs will claim the title.

activities

Congratulations on a wonderful performance by our String, Concert, and Chamber Orchestras at their fall concert this past week!  Way to go musicians!

On Thursday, our Marching Band practiced their performance before heading to regionals that night.  Our staff was able to watch as they perfected their routine!

If you decide to order more meals for that month, we receive an additional $20.  Whichever music department sells the most meals gets an additional $100. Plus, during October through December, their corporate offices will match up to $250.00 for the fundraising group that brings in the most. Go to https://dreamdinners.com/session/946555 to order!  Deadline to order is November 13th at 5:30 p.m. and you can pick-up your order on November 16th at 5:30 p.m.

Fall Play - Radium Girls - November 3rd-5th, 7:00 p.m.

About the play (based on true events):  In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court.  As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.

ralston valley happenings

Congratulations to our hard-working students who earned an academic award or letter for their achievements during the 2021-2022 school year!

Conceptual Chemistry students conducted the "Heavy Metal or Soft Rock" lab. They are given samples of unknown elements and have to determine if the samples are metals, nonmetals, or metalloids by performing tests.

German students in Deutschklub spent two afternoons in the kitchen this week preparing for their Herbstfest (Fall-fest).  Using authentic German recipes, decking out the tables in Bavarian colors, and listening to German music provided by exchange student David Bach, it was a fest to remember! Vielen Dank to the AATG Deutsch Macht Spaß grant for the new cake trays and to Boulder Sausage for the sausages.

Madame Leslie met French Honor Society students for a brunch at Bistro Vendome in Denver.

Students in AP Human Geography classrooms conducted a "Food for Thought" simulation that mimics the natural patterns of migration around the world. Five continents were represented by ambassadors that managed a round of open migration where students could choose if they would like to migrate to another continent.

Students in our Chemistry classes observed light emitted from metallic ions after energy was added by flame from a Bunsen burner.  The light and color emitted can be utilized to identify which element or compound is present in a sample.

Amy Rosenthal receiving the prestigious Ralston Valley Chemistry Teacher of the Week Award!

This week in Introduction to Business class, students utilized their knowledge of types of investments to craft personalized investment portfolios which matched their risk tolerance and investment time horizon.
