Upgrade client to the newest version. Dual pricing is added as of HotSauce 7.3.1.0
Open HSBackOffice and go to: System Config > Credit Cards / eCards Setup > Processing Fees
For the "Fee program" select DUALPRICE
This will remove some of the previous settings, the UI should look as indicated on the left.
"Fee Type" should always be set to PERCENT
This should be the percentage submitted on SpiceLink or sent via email from the client's processor. If a merchant requests a change themselves, make sure the processor is aware and agrees to the change.
Click SAVE and restart FOH on all terminals.
Their Order Entry screen will now display 2 Prices for every item as well as 2 totals.
Splitting payments evenly is slightly more difficult with Dual Pricing. If a merchant is splitting a payment they will see this message.
This means they should take Card payments first before doing any Cash Payments.
If the payment is split between Credit Cards and Cash then the Credit Card price will always be used.
FYI: None of what is said above affects splitting up a table by Seat Number or manually entering in a different amount then the total.
"Splitting Payments" evenly is when they use this Split button.
Unpaid Receipts will show 2 prices for every item as well as 2 totals. The example receipt is a PDF Printer version. It will align better on the thermal printers.
We do not have the ability to edit the wording or arrangement of the prices and totals currently.
Paid Receipts will only show the pricing of the payment type used. If paid with all cash then it will only show cash prices and vice versa. If the payment is split between cards and cash then it uses the credit price for everything and displays that..
Dual pricing has been tested with Alternate Pricing, Non-Inclusive Tax, Inclusive Tax and Smart Tax. Most reports appear to be working correctly as well.
There will no longer be any fees to report like with the Non-Cash Adjustment. To keep Visa and Mastercard happy we have to report these items as processed with a different price. Sales numbers for items paid with a Credit Card will be higher than items paid for with cash.
Just like with Non-Cash Adjust, Dual Pricing will not affect the processing fee on Tips. Tips still get charged a processing fee but we have no way of passing that along to the customer. The only way the merchant doesn’t pay for the fees on tips is if we use Tips Withheld, which then means the processing fee is deducted from the tip itself before being given to the employee.
This is a new product and there will be some bugs. Please send any bugs to your managers. Make sure you test on an in-house machine and can reproduce the bug before sending it to your manager for Development to look at.
