Using Google to Locate Images

  • Type in your search term(s) - Since you are no longer in a database, you may need to adjust your keywords to find the best results

  • After conducting a search, either scroll through the featured articles, or click on Images to browse

  • If you see an image of interest, open it and click on "visit" to ensure the source is reliable

  • If it is not a reliable source (blog, Pinterest) but you believe the image has value, you can right click/ two finger tap and select "search Google for image" in order to find it on a better website (Wikipedia, LOC, National Archives, etc.)

Remember:

If you search for an image via Google, you will have to create your own citation.

You can do this by using a citation generator (such as EasyBib). However, Easybib may not pull all the necessary information. Here's how you cite an image:

CITATION FORMAT:

"Title of Image." Source, Publisher [if different than source], year published, URL. Accessed Date.

Example:

"Top White House Aids Quit- President Explains." The San Francisco Chronicle, April 3 2019.
