Anatomy of MLA Citations and Works Cited Pages
Note That:
The databases provide citations for you, otherwise you have to make your own using the above formula
An 'author' of a source may be multiple people (only the first is formatted as last name, first name), or even a group or organization
Some parts of a citation may be missing (be wary of this, as it might be a credibility red flag!), in which case omit them entirely
A source might have an outside/overarching sponsor--include it in normal text between the Source Title and Date
REMEMBER:
One Inch Margins
12 point - Times New Roman
Double Spaced
Hanging Indents
Works Cited - Centered at top of page
Citations in Alphabetical Order
Ignore articles (A, An, The, etc.) when alphabetizing
Numerical characters precede letters in alphabetization
Article titles must be in quotes
Source titles must be in italics
Dates must be formatted as Day Month Year (omit any parts not available)
