Greetings from the School and Parent Council. On Wednesday night we had our AGM and were pleased to elect Cheryl Filipic as the new President of the association and Lesya Johnston as the Fundraising Coordinator. Jackie Knopp, Sherri Dobko, and Kelly Reynar continued their terms as Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary respectively.
At the meeting amongst many things we were pleased to be able to offer financial support for the grade 12 classes’ trip to the Citadel Theatre in November. One of the council’s goals is to enrich the school experience for all students. This is often in the form of subsidizing travel to these events. At an average cost of around $400 this represents a significant portion of the funds we can allocate especially now that Casino fundraiser once every 4 years so
For all the great things about living in a rural area and attending a small rural school, there are hidden costs which can prevent our students experiencing the things found in larger population centres. Which is to all to say, if you’d like to help out with the council or even make donations to it, you can be assured that every second of your time and cent of your money goes towards giving our kids the best start we can.
Come join us! Our next meeting is at the school on November 22nd at 7pm. See you there.
Hi again. Well I think I jinxed us last week by mentioning the weather. Kurt Vonnegut's first rule of good writing is "Never open with weather" and that proved correct.
And now I've done it again.
At least I've done it for the right reasons. With the snow blowing everywhere it's worth noting that, for whatever reason, our little street seems to accumulate more than its fair share. As a result the crosswalk area gets very icy, and we've already had a few close calls and uncontrolled slides.
For myself, (and I'm sure Mrs. Jubinville feels the same way) we'd rather you took that extra minute or two to get the kids to school rather than trying to rush when the roads are not ideal.
Take care out there, it looks like this year we're going to get plenty of practice with winter driving this year.
Student Enrollment Verification
A couple of weeks ago we sent out your students' details for verification. If you find a spare minute getting those as early as possible is very helpful. You can find them in the parent portal on the left side in the menu there. Thank you in advance, we appreciate your help.
Open Houses are a great way to see campuses, learn about different programs and in some cases apply for free or win tuition!

My choice for this week is "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman—it's like nothing you've ever read before! Picture this: a boy named Nobody Owens, raised by ghosts in a graveyard, navigating a world filled with supernatural wonders and a hint of danger. Neil Gaiman spins a tale that's part coming-of-age, part spooky adventure, and wholly captivating. With its cool characters, spooky setting, and a plot that's both eerie and heartwarming, "The Graveyard Book" is a total page-turner. If you're into stories that mix magic and mystery, this one's a must-read. It'll keep you hooked till the very end and leave you with that magical bookish feeling. Check it out—you won't be disappointed!

Vaping is of particular concern, not only at our school but in schools across the world. Our hope is that together with parents and other stakeholders we can increase knowledge of the effects of vaping and, by doing so, reduce their consumption
I have included links to several resources below as well as a link to our statement of fair notice regarding the consequences for failing to adhere to the rules related to illegal substances I have outlined above.
