On Monday we had the RCMP join us to present to the students about Drinking and Driving to our grades 9-12, as well as grade 8 students who have received their learner's permits. In addition to the presentation, there were some experiential portions that allowed students to experience what impairment is like while driving. This was definitely an opportunity for students to learn life lessons that they can carry with them!
As we head into next week, our grade 9, 10's and 11's will be receiving their registration presentations. Parents should be on the lookout for course planners that they need to sign before they are due on the 19th for current grade 10's and 11's. Grade 9's will be able to keep theirs until the night of the 20th, when we will host the grade 10 orientation, starting at 6:30 in the band room.
Wishing everyone a restful long weekend as there is no school on Monday! Don't forget to spring forward on Saturday evening/Sunday morning... the sun will be getting up as you come to school on Tuesday morning.

Tired of buying a bag of groceries that is not only expensive, but doesn't seem to last? This week's tips: how to save some money!
Plan at least one meatless meal a week; incorporate grains and buy in-season fruits & vegetables to boost nutritional value.
Find the discount section at the grocery store! Buy in bulk, make two of something and freeze the second one!
Avoid recipes that need a special ingredient as they are often more expensive & you likely won’t use it all!
Make extras. Don’t let a big bunch of carrots or celery go to waste. Use it all up by making an extra big pot of soup. If ground beef is on sale, make two batches of lasagna instead of one. Serve one batch for dinner, and freeze the other batch in meal-sized portions for another time.
Meal plan. Determine breakfast, lunch & dinner for each day.
This year TJSHS is partnered with PC Financial for the Power Full Kids program. They are our major sponsor of our breakfast and lunch programs that we run here at the school. In order to support their mission, we will feature nutrition and cooking tips throughout this semester.

Vaping is of particular concern, not only at our school but in schools across the world. Our hope is that together with parents and other stakeholders we can increase knowledge of the effects of vaping and, by doing so, reduce their consumption
I have included links to several resources below as well as a link to our statement of fair notice regarding the consequences for failing to adhere to the rules related to illegal substances I have outlined above.
