Badminton
Badminton season is here! Practices have started with Mr. Goruley heading the charge. This year the Junior Highs will have their competition on April 18 in Leduc and potentially on the 25th if they do well. The Senior Highs are the 19th in Edmonton and if they do well they compete again on the 26th. The goal this year is to get as many people playing badminton as possible. If your child is interested, they still have time to check it out!
Track and Field
Once the snow clears and the field is not a puddle, we will begin track and field.
Senior highs will have a track meet on May 25 in Edmonton and the Juniors will do their annual Thorsby Track Meet followed by our top athletes moving on to compete in Leduc.
Over the course of semester two, we will be looking at different areas of wellness throughout the school. March is Nutrition month and so we will feature some ideas around that area. Here at TJSHS, Mr Feil has taken on the Wellness role and is trying to get as many people involved as possible. Keep your eye on the Wellness Beat section for Wellness ideas and information.
Financial Awareness Month
This month is financial awarness month. Please take a look at the hints, tips, and suggestions in this section to potentially learn some information.
Students can check out the link below and engage in a competition that could potentially get them some money but also increases their knowledge on future careers

Food Drive * Extended to April 15 *
The food bank drive started off slowly but has taken off and we have lots of items donated. I know we did one in December and it was extremely successful, but people in need aren't just in need during the holidays. We can help by running another food drive and donating what we can to those in need. The rules will be the same as last time. People can donate items to the food bank and those items will be assigned points. The house with the most points at the end will gain 3 house points, second most will gain 2 house points, and third most will gain one house point. Last time it got pretty competitive and people did an amazing job bringing in whatever they could.

This year we did a double elimination badminton tournament.
We had almost 40 students and staff sign up for the tournament as individuals or doubles teams.
The last teams left standing near the end were Jenna and Tyra who were beaten by Mr. Gourley and Declan. Mr. Gourley and Declan then had to take on Mr. Feil and Mr. Heise. The latter narrowly defeated the two to move to the finals versus Mr. Klaassen and Jakob (who had not lost yet). Feil and Heise won the first match against Klaassen and Jakob and then the two teams met again on Thursday. The Thursday game ended with Mr, Feil and Mr, Heise winning the championoship!
This tournament was a blast! Keep your eyes peeled for the next intramural.
Today the students were able to participate in an Easter egg hun to begin the day. The students had 15 minutes to search the school and try to get the most amount of Easter eggs. The top 3 students won some chocolate. Jed, Olivia, and Liam were this year's winners!
