Continuing with The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown, the students used brainstorming templates to reflect on what makes them unique. After completing graphic organizers, they wrote and illustrated their final drafts, titled "The Important Thing About Me."
Ms. Hailey from Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) visited our class this week to introduce the "Kindness in the Classroom" program. She explained the concept of respect, emphasizing the significance of self-respect and respecting others. To conclude the lesson, the students had fun playing a game of pictionary.
In Science, the students enjoyed making jello as a hands-on way to explore the three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas). We followed the scientific method for this experiment by first asking, "Can we create all three states of matter using water while making jello?" The students made a hypothesis, or predictions, about what they might observe. During the experiment, they recorded their observations as we mixed, heated, and chilled the jello. In their conclusion, they found that all three states of matter were indeed present. But the highlight for most was observing the solid state by eating the jello!
