This week, the students took part in a fun and engaging writing activity called Monster Adjectives! Each student created their own imaginative monster and wrote a descriptive paragraph full of adjectives to bring their creature to life. The twist? They folded their paper to hide the original drawing, and a fellow classmate had to read the descriptive paragraph and draw what they thought the monster looked like, without seeing the original! Once the drawings were complete, students revealed their original monster to compare how closely their partner’s drawing matched. It was a great way to practice descriptive writing and have some fun with friends! Be sure to ask your child about their monster and how the final reveal turned out!
The students worked on a creative project to help them remember the cardinal directions (North, South, East, West). Each student came up with a catchy mnemonic phrase, wrote it neatly, and illustrated a picture to go along with it. They also added a compass rose, clearly labeling the cardinal directions. The focus was on neatness, creativity, and presenting their best work. These colourful posters highlighted both their understanding and artistic skills. Be sure to ask your child to share their mnemonic and explain how it helps them remember the directions!
Congratulations to our 3A friends who flew to the next country by reading 500 minutes in our Amazing Race home reading program. Well done 3A readers!
Happy Birthday to our 3A friend who celebrated her special day over the weekend!
