Last week, our class worked on an exciting writing project all about dialogue! We started by reading Did You Hear What They Said at the Zoo?, a fun and silly story that introduced students to 50 different synonyms for the word "said." After learning new vocabulary to make their writing more lively and expressive, students were given photos of animals and challenged to create their own dialogue for them. Using Google Slides, they practiced writing and punctuating dialogue correctly while replacing "said" with more interesting words. This activity helped students strengthen their narrative writing skills, build vocabulary, and have a lot of fun being creative!
On Thursday, each student at RBES enjoyed a Tim Hortons Smile Cookie, thanks to the school's support of the annual Smile Cookie campaign. This campaign raises funds for local charities, with 100% of the proceeds from each cookie sold being donated. Families were encouraged to make a small donation, and the funds raised will go toward supporting the Devon Hospital Foundation. A big thank you to the parents who sent in a toonie to contribute to this wonderful cause! It was a fun and meaningful way to bring joy to our school community while supporting a great local initiative.
This week, our class took part in the Town of Devon’s Pitch In event by picking up garbage around the school yard. With gloves and bags provided by the town, the students worked together to clean up litter and take care of our outdoor space. They showed great teamwork and were proud to help make a positive difference in our school community.
