This week, we explored limericks—a humorous type of poem with a strong rhythm that originated in Ireland. After learning about their specific pattern and reading several examples, the students created their own limericks. They focused on syllable count and following the rhyming structure, while adding their own creative twists!
In Week Five of our Captain McFinn Explores Kindness program, we watched the video What is Being Brave? and explored what bravery means.
Students reflected on questions such as:
How does feeling brave feel?
What does feeling brave look like?
What are similar feelings to bravery?
Is feeling brave scary or not scary?
They shared thoughtful insights and examples of times they have been brave at school, at home, and in the community. To wrap up the lesson, we played a fun game of charades where students acted out different scenarios demonstrating bravery. It was a great way to bring their learning to life!
Ask your child what they learned about being brave!
In Art, the students created a beautiful sunset animal silhouette project inspired by Tunisian wildlife! First, they chose an animal from Tunisia—either a giraffe, hippo, lion, rhino, or elephant—and carefully cut out its silhouette. Next, they used watercolour paints in red, orange, and yellow to create a lovely ombre sunset background, blending the colours smoothly from dark to light. Once their background was dry, they glued their animal silhouette on top, making it stand out against the sunset. The finished artwork looked amazing, with bold animal shapes and warm, glowing skies!
