The students worked in pairs to create food chain posters showing how energy moves through an ecosystem. Each group illustrated a specific environment with at least three labelled organisms and arrows to show the flow of energy. They categorized each organism (e.g., producer, consumer, decomposer), coloured their posters with care, and presented their work to explain the connections in their food chain.
This week, we celebrated National Bee Day with a vibrant art project that combined drawing, shading, and colour blending. Students followed a guided drawing from Art Hub for Kids to sketch their bees in pencil, then outlined them in sharpie and added colour with crayons. They also learned how to shade their bees using pencil crayons to add depth and dimension. For the background, students traced hexagons to create honeycomb patterns and used oil pastels to blend yellow and brown, creating a warm, textured effect. After cutting out and gluing their bees onto the backgrounds, the finished artwork was buzzing with creativity and colour!
Representatives from the Devon Lions Club visited RBES to read with our students. Our class really enjoyed listening to our guest reader, Gloria, and was excited to receive a new book for our classroom library called Bog Myrtle. A big thank you to the Devon Lions Club for their generosity and for supporting literacy in our school community!
On Friday afternoon, the students took part in Tom’s Walk to show their support for mental health awareness. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to come together as a school community, reflect on the importance of mental well-being, and honour the message behind the walk.
Congratulations to our 3A friends who flew to the next country by reading 500 minutes in our Amazing Race home reading program. Well done 3A readers!
