This week in Grade 3, we practiced the -ge (j) spelling pattern with a fun partner activity using the Roll and Read game board! The students played Bump and Connect 4 by rolling dice and reading -ge words, practicing together to build fluency and strengthen their understanding of the -ge spelling rule. This interactive activity made practicing spelling both engaging and enjoyable!
The students had a great opportunity to learn from Alexa Lizotte, a proud Métis artist and storyteller, through an online presentation. Alexa shared her personal journey of reconnecting with her Métis roots and the significance of land, art, and culture in her life. We learned about Métis dot art and its connection to traditional beadwork. Following the presentation, the students completed digital dot art by selecting and applying colours to a predesigned flower, engaging with this meaningful aspect of Métis culture in a hands-on way.
This week, the students had an amazing time skating at the Dale Fisher Arena! It was wonderful to see them building confidence, practicing balance, and having so much fun on the ice. A big thank you to the parents and volunteers who joined us—your help tying skates and going on the ice with the students made all the difference. We couldn’t have done it without you! The students are already looking forward to their next skating session!
Congratulations to our 3A friends who flew to the next country by reading 500 minutes in our Amazing Race home reading program. Well done 3A readers!
