The students took part in 'Wrap Wednesday,' making homemade wraps as part of our nutrition program, thanks to the PC PowerFull Kids grant. We are grateful to Mrs. Christian for preparing and delivering all the wrap ingredients to the classroom.
Our latest writing project was inspired by In My Heart by Jo Witek, a book that uses descriptive language to explore emotions. After brainstorming different feelings, each student picked one emotion to describe. They were asked to choose an animal that reminded them of that feeling and then write about what it looks like when they feel that way, using descriptive language to show, not tell. After completing their writing, students created artwork to visually represent their chosen emotion.
After reading Giraffe Problems by Jory John, students created their own Valentine-themed giraffe artwork. They began by drawing a giraffe, replacing traditional spots with hearts to celebrate Valentine's Day. Once their sketches were complete, they outlined their drawings with permanent marker to add bold definition. To bring their artwork to life, students used watercolor paints, practicing blending and brush control techniques.
This week, the students had a great time creating their own Valentine’s Day card holders in an open-ended art project, showcasing their creativity. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, they exchanged cards, played bingo, and participated in a variety of fun activities. Thank you for providing snacks for your child to enjoy.
We celebrated the Valentine's Day Birthday of our special 3A friend!
