WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
The work of our Green School Committee, made up of our team of dedicated, concerned and engaged student leaders and faculty, has resulted in conversations and agreements with our Parents Association, Brandina Catering, our canteen providers and school management to identify and implement ways in which we can actively REDUCE the amount of waste that we are generating on the Global Jaya School campus.
Next week, we will aggressively communicate regarding the reinforcement of a major waste-generating reduction effort, eliminating plastic utensils and straws from the canteen. We encourage all students, parents, guardians, faculty and visitors to have their own reusable cutlery set and reusable tumbler in their bags. Regarding cutlery, if an individual does not have their own, stainless steel cutlery could be requested.
We can positively impact our environment through changes in our behaviour, which strategically target the largest generators of waste, i.e., replacing plastic cups, straws, cutlery and lids with eco-friendly options. Please be on the lookout for letters home, posters in the canteen, and information shared through social media, Managebac and WhatsApp groups that provide further detail regarding the reinforced changes that will happen on January 29.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
Our exciting after-school activities are set to kick off next week on January 22. To ensure a smooth and organized start, we ask you to kindly help your child gather and organize any materials or equipment they might need for the activity. This could include sports gear, art supplies, or any specific tools mentioned by the activity organizers. If you are unsure of the venue of the activity, please feel free to contact Ibu Imas in the Primary office.
We also have some exciting parent workshops scheduled over the next few weeks, and we encourage you to take part in these.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
This coming week, we are excited to host our Personal Project Exhibition. The Personal Project is not only the culminating experience for the year 10 MYP students, but it is also an opportunity for our students to personally explore a unique topic of interest. The topics our students studied this year include: Sustainability Through a Shopping Addict's Lens, History of the Krakatoa Eruption, How Beauty Standards Affect Women, Calisthenics for Beginners by a Beginner, and The Life of Beans. Overall, our year 10 students will use the Personal Project as a learning experience to further prepare them for the in-depth research required in the DP as well at the university level. I wish our year 10 students the best of luck at the Exhibition next week and hope our year 10 parents and community members will join us for this event.
Sincerely,
Dr. Howard Menand, Secondary Principal
School Punctuality
As we are now finishing week 2 of semester two, this is a reminder to our secondary families regarding the importance of arriving at school on time. School starts each morning with advisory at 7:30 am. Our school gates open at 7:00 am, and students may report to their advisory class at 7:20 am.
We ask our Global Jaya parents to help ensure students arrive at school on time each morning so that they can use the advisory time to get prepared for a successful day ahead.
Finally, students are required to stop by the front office if they are late for advisory; otherwise, these students will be marked absent for advisory.
Thank you parents for your continued support.
We look forward to our IB focused assembly presented by our amazing year 9 students.
