WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
Our team is pleased to inform you that Global Jaya School has identified and successfully hired our next Secondary School Principal. Starting in July 2024, Ms Nelsy Amanda Saravia will join the GJS community to support our students, faculty, staff and parents to help Global Jaya continue its journey of holistic academic success.
Nelsy is an experienced, enthusiastic, and passionate educator and leader who firmly believes in the critical importance of nurturing positive, enriching, and secure learning environments for every member of the school community. Her journey in education began over twenty-seven years ago in her home country of Colombia, where she had the privilege of serving as the Elementary Principal at one of Colombia's top ten private schools, which boasted a student body of over 1,000 students.
Internationally, Nelsy has been fortunate to live, work, and immerse herself in diverse educational landscapes across South America, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Throughout this incredible journey, she has gained invaluable insights into the three core IB continuum programmes, PYP, MYP, and DP, from different roles within the educational field. Currently, Nelsy serves as the MYP Coordinator at Qatar Academy Sidra in Doha, Qatar, where she relies on her interpersonal skills and multi-tasking abilities to successfully lead the MYP, develop and implement the ASA program, and support the diverse instructional needs of her students and faculty. These experiences have equipped her with a well-rounded skill set in program development and management, as well as honing her talents in school leadership. Equally important, Nelsy is happily married and the mother of two remarkable individuals who are currently pursuing their own paths at university. Upon acceptance of the position, Nelsy shared that her entire family holds cherished memories of their time in Southeast Asia, and she eagerly anticipates the opportunity to return.
Finally, to quote Nelsy, she states, "I am deeply honoured to have been appointed as the Secondary Principal for the upcoming school year at Global Jaya School. Having had the privilege of meeting members of the leadership team and the board, I am convinced that Global Jaya School is a strong, vibrant learning community that places students at the very core of its educational approach and fosters a well-rounded perspective on teaching and learning. My commitment to you is to bring my talents and unwavering dedication to inspire students and teachers to achieve their academic and personal potential while enhancing and enriching the robust community that is already positioned at the heart of the school."
We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Nelsy Saravia into our school community come July 2024.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School
