WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
Another week of exploration, investigation, reflection, competition and, most certainly, celebration here on the campus of Global Jaya School.
A special shout-out to our AMAZING Year 10 students who are presenting in their Personal Project Exhibition today. Please come by and share in developing your understanding of how our students translated their passions into an academic investigation, which resulted in their personalized learning journey. We have seen a wide range of topics, presentation styles and product types on display through to 2:30 pm today in our Theatre Foyer. This is a testament to our dedicated students, their teacher mentors, and their supportive parents who have guided and supported them on their MYP personal project learning journey.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
This week, our corridors were filled with joyful activity as our students eagerly engaged in their favorite After-School Activities. I had the opportunity to witness the proactive approach of some students seeking confirmation for their After-School Activities (ASA) schedules or asking about the World Scholar Cup (WSC) schedule rather than making assumptions reflecting a commendable sense of responsibility. It also bears witness to how much they have grown.
Speaking of growth, we've initiated the first phase of the Year 6 to Year 7 transition. Year 7 students, eager to welcome their younger peers, shared their personal journeys into the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and enthusiastically answered many of the Year 6 students' questions. We anticipate more transitional meetings in the coming months. Looking ahead, we encourage all parents to participate in next week's "Let's Talk Puberty" workshop. Understanding what your child is learning at school is vital in bridging the home-school gap, and this workshop aims to facilitate those conversations.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
While it may sound like a repeated message, I must once again state that Global Jaya continues to be a busy and productive school. This week, our amazing Year 9 students led our year level assembly, highlighting the message of caring. We also had a half day of school on Wednesday so our teachers could continue their focus on key areas from the Global Jaya Schoolwide Action Plan. And on Friday, our Year 10 students presented their Personal Project Exhbition (we look forward to sharing photos and celebrations from this event in our next edition of Kontak). With that said, the genuine level of student engagement and activity makes Global Jaya a well-rounded school that fosters the development of students both academically and socially, or as we like to say--holistically. Finally, for our parents, we hope you stay informed with our weekly updates and reminders so that you can continue to be an important part of your child's educational journey.
Sincerely,
Dr. Howard Menand, Secondary Principal
School Punctuality
(Repeat Reminder)
This is a reminder to our secondary families regarding the importance of arriving at school on time. School starts each morning with advisory at 7:30 am. Our school gates open at 7:00 am, and students may report to their advisory class at 7:20 am.
We ask our Global Jaya parents to help ensure students arrive at school on time each morning so that they can use the advisory time to get prepared for a successful day ahead.
Finally, students are required to stop by the front office if they are late for advisory; otherwise, these students will be marked absent for advisory.
Thank you parents for your continued support.

Global Jaya School Canteen Survey Form
Global Jaya Parent Association Health, Safety, Environment and Food Section is committed to improving and upgrading our school canteen quality. Through various inputs shared by students and parents of Global Jaya School community, the Parent Association Food Section is aiming to provide a better quality of food ingredients, and nutritious yet appetizing meals for students and faculty to savor at school.
Parent Association Food Section believes by offering various meal options can help elevate student’s appetite during snack and lunch break at school. Adding To-go refreshments such as protein bars, bread, sandwiches, and traditional Indonesian snacks of risoles, panada and so will surely be convenient for students and teachers as well. An improved queue system on school grounds will also be of help; it will certainly reduce the queue for beverages.
Therefore, Global Jaya Parent Association is inviting all Global Jaya School students, faculty and parents to share their thoughts and ideas to help us gather more understanding regarding school canteen food and quality. We would like to hear from you about the food that you enjoy at school as well as whether the food you purchase is from the canteen or if you pack your lunch and bring it from home.
This form can be filled anytime of the day and you can submit one time daily. The survey form in QR code will also be provided on the canteen table for your convenience.
Please refer to the link / QR code below to fill out the survey.
Global Jaya School Korean Community
Annyeonghaseyo!
안녕하세요
We are delighted to welcome our very own Global Jaya School Korean Community as part of our Global Jaya family. GJS Korean Community was established on November 1st, 2023 and currently has 36 members on board, joining from different year levels, mainly in Primary.
As one of the largest foreign communities in Global Jaya School, the GJS Korean Community was purposely founded to create a safe and uplifted social place specifically for Koreans who share the same vision and mission within the Global Jaya School Community. Additionally, it was also formed to help unify both Indonesian and Korean cultures together, as well as a tool to ensure better and rather smoother communication between Korean parents in the school.
GJS Korean Community will hold its first event in collaboration with Global Jaya School and Parent Association for the upcoming celebration of the Lunar New Year 2024 in February 2024.
CELEBRATIONS
Dear Community Members, we will be sharing with you, in this space, our students' success stories that are taking place outside of our campus. Please send any story to Ibu Sandra (HoS Admin Assistant) (sandra@globaljaya.com) by Thursday each week so we can share your child's accomplishment with our wider Global Jaya community
