WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
Yet another great week at Global Jaya School. Our Green School Committee hosted World Wildlife Day to raise awareness for primate conservation and habitat preservation. Also, Year 10 students took their mock exams, and we finished the week with our Year 5 assembly. With that said, we only have two weeks until the MSCs, and I hope everyone finds time to sign up for this opportunity to learn more about your child's academic development and performance. MSCs are a great opportunity for families to stay connected to the school and to support the learning of their children. We look forward to seeing everyone on campus for the upcoming MSCs.
Warm Regards,
Howard Menand, Head of School
In case you were not able to attend the Coffee Morning on Tuesday, please find here a link to the presentation shared by our Principals.
Also, our next Coffee Morning takes place on Tuesday, April 8th. The focus of this session will be to unpack the Community Surveys. We hope to see you there!
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
This week marked the beginning of Ramadhan, and it was truly inspiring to see so many of our students as young as Reception observing the fast. Their commitment to upholding their values was evident as they engaged in quiet activities, library-led initiatives, and moments of reflection. At the same time, we encouraged them to listen to their bodies - some chose active play, while others opted for downtime. Either way, their patience, tolerance, and understanding of sacrifice have been heartwarming.
Reception Extended Day - We recently shared the survey results regarding the Reception extended day with our current Kindy parents. Moving forward, we will adopt a hybrid approach:
Monday & Tuesday: 12:00 PM dismissal
Wednesday & Thursday: 1:30 PM dismissal, with the option to join After-School Activities (ASA) after.
Friday: 1:30 PM dismissal, including Friday Prayer and enrichment activities
Students will engage in various experiences, such as music and art activities, rolling snack time, quiet time, unstructured play, story time, story baskets, and student-led inquiry.
MSC - Mid Semester Conferences - Mid-semester conferences will take place on March 20-21, and we highly encourage you to attend. This is a valuable opportunity to discuss your child's progress and learning journey with their teachers.
Finally, please enjoy some pictures capturing the wonderful events and learning moments taking place around the camps.
Please do not forget to scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Athletics department sections for the Basketball Clinic with Uwe Sauer's confirmed dates.
In Gratitude,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

World Wild Life Day
At first, the students in the Green School Committee thought it would just be a simple day to sell keychains and pencils. However, the event turned out to be much more than that. Students enjoyed the engaging activities shared by their homeroom teachers, and they were excited to learn from Ranger Bruce, who taught them about wildlife conservation.
The highlight of the day was when students eagerly chose a charity to donate the money they raised from the sales. Primary students were thrilled with their new animal keychains and pencils and couldn’t wait to share all the new things they had learned about protecting wildlife.
Thank you for all your contributions. Primary Raised IDR 1.763.728
Senia Indonesia Conference 2025
Congratulations to Ibu Redy and Ibu Nova for representing Global Jaya and presenting at Senia Indonesia Conference 2025 titled Bridging the Gap: Together We Thrive. Our teachers delivered a presentation on Second Language Acquisition-Challenges, Opportunities, and Strategies which was very well attended.
Here are some engaging pictures of our students in action during the Year 4 Clinic Day.
Our Year 1 students had an exciting Pack Your Bag simulation day, where they stepped into the shoes of travelers! They packed their bags based on their chosen destinations, considering the weather and planned activities. The experience continued as they navigated airport procedures, going through security and immigration checks. With some students acting as passengers and teachers taking on airport roles, it was a fun and interactive way to learn about travel, critical thinking, and real-world processes! ✈️🌍
Proudly Celebrating our Students' Achievements

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
The highlight of this week is our Year 10 students taking their mock exams as they prepare for the upcoming IB MYP eAssessments. These exams help students recognize their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and develop essential skills like time management and critical thinking, which will support them in future assessments, including the DP exams.
GJS has been a pioneer in implementing mock exams in Indonesia to ensure students are well-prepared. Last year, for the first time, our students took the Math eAssessment and submitted an ePortfolio in Design. This year, we are moving closer to full implementation, with students preparing for: eAssessments in Math and English (Language & Literature and Language Acquisition) and ePortfolios in Design, Music, and Theatre
We are proud of this initiative under the guidance of our MYP Coordinator, Ibu Sue, and the hard work and dedication of our teachers. GJS continues to lead educational innovation in Indonesia, ensuring our students are well-equipped for the future.
We strongly encourage all parents to attend the MSCs on March 20 and 21. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to engage in meaningful discussions, celebrating achievements, recognizing strengths, and identifying areas where additional support may be needed at home. We look forward to seeing you there! Don’t miss this opportunity!
Sincerely,
Nelsy Saravia, Secondary Principal

Y9 Extended Math - Transformation Batik Design Project
As their summative assessment in term 3, our year 9 Extended Math students experienced an exciting journey that combined the precision and beauty of Mathematics with the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia in The Transformation Batik Design Project. The initiative not only deepened their understanding of geometric and function transformations but also allowed them to express their creativity by designing unique batik patterns using Mathematical concepts.
Students employ Desmos, an advanced graphing calculator, to craft their batik design. By applying transformations such as translations, rotations, reflections and dilations to various functions and geometric shapes, they created complex, repeating patterns reminiscent of traditional Batik patterns. Students also had the opportunity to bring their pattern to life by printing them on various mediums, including fabrics, pins, keychains, tote bags, and paper fans.
This project stand as an example of endless possibilities that arise when disciplines intersects, inspiring us to continue exploring innovative approach to learning.

Introducing Unifrog – Supporting Your Child’s Future!
In keeping with our commitment to providing students with outstanding career guidance and tailored support when choosing their next step after school, we will now be using Unifrog, an award-winning online careers platform. All students in Y7 through Y11 will have access to this excellent website.
The Unifrog platform is designed to support learners in making the most informed decisions about their futures and has a range of tools that are suitable for all year groups. Each student has their own personal account that provides a wide range of information related to their interests and aspirations.
Key features of the platform include:
Exploring Pathways – personality quizzes, career and subject profiles, MOOCs, and webinars
Recording – self-reflection about extracurricular activities and key employability skills
Opportunities – search tools showing live vacancies, courses, and placements for universities around the world, virtual work experience, and much more
Applications – tools to help students build applications for a range of pathways (e.g., resumés, Common App Essays, personal statements)
To introduce you to Unifrog and how we will use it with our students, we invite you to attend one of our Parent Sessions. During this session, we will review key platform features, show you how students will engage with the tools, and provide an overview of our University Counseling Workshops, which will take place from January through June.

Dress-Up Day - Habitat for Humanity CAS Project
Dear Parents and Students,
We are the Habitat for Humanity X GJS team, which is comprised of Y11 students. Habitat for Humanity is an NGO that is dedicated to building and renovating homes for those in need. Through our collaboration with them, we aim to raise a total of Rp 59,000,000 in order to help build a house for a family in Sentul. These families are living in rundown houses with holes in their roofs and on the verge of collapsing. With this money, we would be able to create a comfortable and stable home for these people to return to.
Therefore, to promote our cause, we'll be holding two dress-up days on March 11, 2025, and April 22, 2025. Each day will have a different color scheme, and students are required to donate a minimum of Rp 15,000 to participate. All funds made during these two days will go towards the funds for Habitat for Humanity. Below are the dress codes for each day.
Tuesday, March 11, 2025: Blue & White
Tuesday, April 22, 2025: Earthy Tones (Brown, Green, White, Cream)
We encourage and would greatly appreciate it if all students participated and contributed to this meaningful cause. Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you!

Athletics Department
Season 3 rolled on with another round of matches, as our U15 soccer boys and girls took on BSJ on February 26th.
Our U15 boys played at home, delivering a strong and consistent first half. However, they were unable to maintain their momentum in the second half, ultimately falling to BSJ. Despite the defeat, the match had several positive moments that highlighted the team's potential. The challenge moving forward will be to apply these moments consistently in upcoming games.
Meanwhile, our U15 girls team traveled to BSJ, where they put up a determined performance. Although they lost, the team celebrated an important milestone—scoring their first goals of the season. These goals resulted from excellent defensive pressure, a promising sign for their progress and future matches.
Looking ahead, Season 3 continues with our first Varsity (boys and girls) badminton semi-finals against BSJ on March 12th. The matches will begin at 3 PM at BSJ, and we encourage everyone to come out and support our talented badminton players.
Season 2 Sports Clinic (June 16th-June 26th)
Building on the success of our Sports Clinic in Season 1, we will offer another sports clinic during the first 2 weeks of Summer break from June 16 to June 26th! Year 5 to Year 12 Badminton (boys and girls) with Pak Tofan
Varsity, U15, and Primary Soccer (boys and girls) with Pak Alwan and Pak Alex
Year 5 to Year 12 Basketball (boys and girls) with Pak Dodin
Primary, U15, Varsity Swimming (boys and girls) with Pak Anto

You can register for multiple sports, but please complete a separate form for each sport your child intends to participate in.
We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to stay active during the break and enhance their skills. We look forward to seeing you there!
