WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
The secret to success at Global Jaya is our students. And this secret was on full display during our Whole School Upacara Monday morning and throughout the day as part of our Independence Day celebrations and activities. Our students were engaged, enthusiastic, and fully embraced the Independence Day events. It was particularly impressive to witness the leadership skills demonstrated by the students leading the Upacara ceremony, and everyone in the audience enjoyed the secondary school House Cheer Competition. Finally, a huge thank you to all of our parents who supported the activities on Monday. Your wholehearted participation is greatly appreciated, and I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to be part of our Independence Day activities.
Warm Regards,
Howard Menand, Head of School

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
This week, our school had many opportunities to come together and celebrate. It began with our first whole-school Upacara in honor of Independence Day, where students and teachers exemplified their national pride and commitment and made the event memorable through additional performances. We also celebrated Independence Day by engaging in cultural games and activities. Many thanks to all our parents who participated in the various Independence Day activities. Your presence and involvement made all the difference for our young learners. The celebrations continued on Friday with the first Year 6 assembly, where students proudly shared their learning with the entire primary school. It was a fantastic showcase of their hard work and achievements.
Next week, on Monday, August 26, our teachers will engage in professional learning. It will be an early dismissal for all students. Please take note of the various dismissal times.

Lastly, we want to remind all parents to remain vigilant about their child's health. While we’ve noticed a slight increase in absences this week, we’re confident that our students will be back to their healthy, happy selves in no time. If your child is feeling unwell, we would like to ask that you keep them at home to rest and recover fully before returning to school.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
Being part of an international community offers us a rich variety of learning experiences that deepen our knowledge and understanding of diverse cultures and traditions. As a new member of the school, witnessing the students conduct such a meaningful and solemn Upacara last Monday left a lasting impression on me, one that I will cherish for years to come. The dedication put into the rehearsals and the respect displayed during the ceremony clearly reflect the pride our students feel in celebrating Indonesia and being part of Global Jaya School.
A heartfelt thank you to all members of our community who played a role in organizing this ceremony and to the parents who supported the children in preparation for this event. The afternoon was filled with teamwork, student agency, and sportmanship as our students participated in the first House Competition. The day ended with smiles, camaraderie, and fun as they engaged in games, doing their best to score points for their houses —and this was just day one.
On Wednesday and Thursday, our Year 11 students completed their National Assessments under the supervision of external invigilators appointed by the Ministry of Education. Soon, it will be the turn of our Year 8 and Year 9 students to take the exam. The phase one session of the iReady test must be completed today. Our data-driven approach plays a crucial role in informing planning to tailor best practices for our students.
By the end of next week, we will be celebrating our first month at school. All families have had time to settle into the school routine. In this regard, we kindly ask for parents' support ensuring that your children are arriving at school on time to be in class by 7:30 a.m., being picked up from campus at 3:00 p.m. or as soon as their ASA ends, and following the dress code. We encourage all community members to participate in wearing Batik on Fridays to celebrate the rich heritage of Indonesia. Please be mindful that these outfits must still adhere to the school dress code, and jeans are not allowed.
Fasten your seat belts, GJS—week number four is coming! Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Nelsy Saravia, Secondary Principal
