WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
As we finish our first week of school, it’s safe to say that it has been exciting, engaging, and rewarding to welcome our students back to Global Jaya. The week included the opportunity for reconnecting with friends and getting to know our newest community members, attending celebratory assemblies, and meeting teachers for the new year. Overall, Global Jaya is off to a great start with many thanks to our outstanding teachers, amazing students, and supportive families.
As we look forward to the next few weeks, we have several events taking place, including the start of iReady exams for students in years 2 to 10, the whole school Upacara and celebration of Indonesian Independence Day on August 19, and Open Day for prospective families on August 24.
Finally, all families are encouraged to stay connected with our school through the various means of communication that we have in place. Our communication platforms include Managebac, Global Insights, Kontak, Whatsapp, and social media. Our goal is to ensure families and students are continually informed about and aware of upcoming events. As you know, Global Jaya is a busy hub of activity, and we don’t want you to miss out on the many wonderful experiences that take place on our campus.
Warm Regards,
Howard Menand, Head of School
We are thrilled to announce that Global Jaya will host the IB Asia Pacific Regional MYP and PYP education workshops on October 18-20, 2024. Our school will welcome educators from the region and outside of Indonesia to take part in two and a half days of focused IB workshops to further develop their teaching practice.
As a result, students will not have school on October 18 since our teachers will be taking part in these workshops. The workshop offers our teachers a wonderful professional opportunity, and it allows us to showcase our amazing school.
Coffee with Pak Howard and Ibu Bunga
It was wonderful to welcome our parent community to our first Coffee with Pak Howard and Ibu Bunga this past Thursday, August 8. The session allowed our parent community to learn more about our goals for the year and to better understand the focus and details of the upcoming iReady test.
In case you were not able to attend the Coffee Morning, here are links to the presentations shared with our parents.
Finally, our next Coffee Morning will take place on Tuesday, September 3rd at 8:00 am. We hope to see you there!
Coffee Morning Topics 2024-2025: We seek your input and suggestions for future coffee morning topics. Please take a moment to complete our form to submit your ideas.
Thank you, thank you to our wonderful parent community for joining us for the Coffee Morning on Thursday. We enjoyed the opportunity to welcome you back to school and wish everyone a successful New Year.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
Welcome Back to School. We successfully completed our first week back and are looking forward to an amazing year. We thank all our parents for attending the Year Level Parent and Teachers meeting last Wednesday.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school, both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may feel anxious with the start of a new school year, and we will continue to emphasize social-emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community. Our school counselor, Ibu Ninggar, will conduct an induction for all new students next week. This will help us and our students reflect on some factors we must address to ensure a smooth transition.
Starting this year, we will restrict the use of mobile phones in Primary to purchasing lunch only. If the need to use mobile devices arises, it will be under teacher supervision. Our emphasis during lunch is on fostering social-emotional connections, encouraging students to engage with their peers face-to-face rather than being distracted by social media apps and games.
I look forward to working collaboratively with you all.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
Welcome to our 2024- 2025 academic year. The preparation for a new school year is an exciting and complex process. Although our students have just completed the first week, planning for their classes and activities began early last year.
We are proud to say that we engage in constant reflection and self-assessment, always keeping the students at the center to identify best practices and ensure a well-rounded, enriching learning experience for all.
Our data-driven approach supports our goal of providing tailored plans that meet the needs of each student. With this aim in mind, we will conduct the first phase of the iReady diagnostic test next week. Your support is highly appreciated in helping your children come to school well-rested and on time.
As you can see in the upcoming events, we have planned several sessions for you, and we hope you can join us. The stronger the connection between school and parents, the better support we can provide to our children. As I move into this new position, I want to invite you to visit me. Your insights into this family-oriented community are always welcome.
Sincerely,
Nelsy Saravia, Secondary Principal

Proudly celebrating our students' achievements:
Congratulations to Abraraza Adriano Musyanif, who recently competed and emerged as a winner in the Indonesian Junior Golf Premier League 6. By winning this tournament, Abraraza has climbed to 2nd place in the Indonesian Junior Golf National Ranking, C Boys Division. This talented student is joining GJS this year in Grade 7. This remarkable achievement highlights his commitment and dedication to his passion for golf.
Welcome to GJS, Abraraza! We are thrilled to have you join our school and look forward to celebrating many more of your accomplishments.
Last year, GJS embarked on the challenging task of implementing the Grade 10 MYP Math eAssessment and Design ePortfolio. We are proud to announce that our first cohort of Grade 10 students achieved exceptional results, typically seen only after two to three years of experience with these assessments. Achieving such outcomes in our first round underscores the strength of our program. We will continue to analyze our performance and build on this success, adding English to the testing session in May. Congratulations to our students, and to our dedicated Math and Design teachers, led by our unstoppable MYP Coordinator. Additionally, the Y10 Personal Project was a great success, with our mentors and MYP Core teachers achieving 100% agreement with the IB examiners through their enriching collaborative work. Well done, team!
