WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
We enter the final week of the semester firing on all cylinders (to steal a mechanics phrase - meaning working at full capacity). We have recently focused on assessments as the semester ends, ensuring that student and parent feedback, shared via our pending semester reports, is complete and accurate, setting up a successful start to semester two. Reports, the accompanying reflection, reevaluation, and goal setting are key ATL strategies for self-management, social and thinking skill development while reinforcing the Learner Profile attributes of being knowledgeable, open-minded and reflective. I could not be more proud of our students, faculty, staff and parents.
While academics is undoubtedly our focus, engagements by GJS students and faculty to be balanced through their further participation and leadership through activities and athletics, community service, event organisation, celebrations, and assemblies must also be warmly recognised. Thank you for the organisational and collaborative wizardry demonstrated as we have participated in sporting events at other schools, hosted Global History Day, HAWKSCUP, and SWIM MEET, and we are completing preparations for the celebratory seasonal and awards assemblies and the Christmas Bazaar next week.
I have said it before, and it bears repeating here: I am the very lucky and proud Head of School at Global Jaya School.
Happy FRI-YAY everyone!
Warm regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
As we approach the end of the year, we want to spotlight a meaningful event that allowed our students to show appreciation for members of our community. Our reception students hosted a "Reception of Gratitude" where they invited various guests - including security guards, gardeners, cleaning staff, parents, and leadership - to enjoy a student-served breakfast. The students performed songs to honour our selfless community helpers. They also helped serve breakfast to show their gratitude. Small gestures like this make a big impact on the lives of all involved by bringing joy and uniting people around shared values. We were so proud of our Reception students for conceiving this event and making it a success through their creativity, teamwork, and compassion. Moments like this remind us of the incredibly bright future we have, thanks to our thoughtful children and the caring community that supports them.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
It has been an exciting and energized week at Global Jaya as we have been participating in the HawksCup 2023 adventure. This past week, we hosted our first MUN Leadership Conference as part of HawksCup, along with sporting events that included volleyball, basketball, and soccer. And our community enjoyed the opportunity to eat and shop from various vendors. Our student leaders have done a wonderful job organizing and managing all aspects of this experience. Their hard work represents the best of Global Jaya, and I'm very appreciative of their enthusiasm and endless energy!
Finally, with one week left of school before our semester break, I hope our parents will be able to join us for the upcoming celebrations taking place at the school. We look forward to highlighting student success at the Global Awards Assembly, along with the Holiday Bazaar and performances. Overall, a great way to finish a wonderful semester one.
Sincerely,
Dr. Howard Menand, Secondary Principal

Proudly celebrating our students' achievements:
We are proud to share with you that Erielle, Leo and Gusti of Year 12 participated in Enterns University of Indonesia 2023 National Business Plan competition. While a total of 350 teams participated, our GJS student team earned a 2nd place “runner-up” trophy and a cash award of 3 million IDR. Well Done Erielle, Leo and Gusti!!!!
It was a real pleasure to join our students in Years 7, 8, and 9 as they took part in Global History Day on December 4th. Our students shared their passion and interest in various global issues. Thank you to our parents for attending this event and to our INS teachers who organized the event.
The Health, Safety, Environment and Food Section of the Global Jaya Parents Association is committed to improving Global Jaya School canteen quality. We would like to take action based on the inputs of students, parents and faculty of the Global Jaya School community. Parent Association Food Section is ready to facilitate an upgrade of our school canteen’s meals by opting for better quality food ingredients and more appetizing, yet nutritious, bites for patrons to enjoy at school.
Parent Association Food Section has collated a list of enhancements that would provide increased options to choose from during snack and lunch breaks at school. Additionally, an improved queue system in the canteen would also help; it will certainly reduce wait time for beverages. Offering more variety of to-go refreshments such as protein bars, bread, sandwiches, and traditional Indonesian snacks of risoles, panadas and so will surely be convenient for students and teachers as well. Finally, monthly Food Stalls from outside providers will be a great addition to excite the students so they will have something to look forward to every week, food-wise.
The Parent Association needs all Global Jaya School students, parents and faculty to share their thoughts and ideas regarding school canteen food and quality. Working hand in hand with Brandina, our school catering provider, our PA Food Section and school leadership will ensure these points are carefully observed and carried out.
