WHOLE SCHOOL
WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear GJS Community Members,
We hope this communication finds you well-rested and rejuvenated after our semester break. We are extremely grateful to welcome everyone back to school, as much as we are excited to have our newest community members joining the GJS family. Here's to a most prosperous new year for all!
Welcome to Semester 2 of the 2023-2024 SY; we encourage everyone to get involved and make the most of their time at school. The coming semester will be chock full of academic, athletic, artistic, social and environmental activities, as well as a few new wrinkles folded in, the February 14 National Election and the close proximity of term three and Idul Fitri breaks. Our Year 6, 10 and 12 students have much on their minds as the Primary Years Programme Exhibition, the Personal Project Exhibition and Mock Exams, and the remaining IA submissions are all pending within the coming weeks. This balance between academic rigour and study offset against student activity in extracurricular activities and self-directed areas of interest makes for busy and exciting times.
Please refer to the weekly “Global Insights”, where important events, activities and the celebrations of successes will be shared with you.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School
School Calendar for 2024-2025
Annually, we consider many factors in determining next year's calendar: two main ones being the number of school days (min 183 contact days) as requested by our Board, and Indonesian holidays as approved by the national authorities. This year, we are further blessed as we recently have been confirmed as the host school for the International Baccalaureate Asia Pacific Regional Workshops in October 2024, drawing educators from around the Asia Pacific region to GJS for 3 days of Professional Learning. Please find our updated 2024-2025 calendar here for your reference.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
Welcome back! As we embrace the excitement of the second semester, I extend a warm welcome and wish you and your family a Happy New Year. We concluded the first semester on a high note, celebrating multiple student achievements and accomplishments. We have so much work to do and wish to carry this positive energy into the semester, working together to reach our full potential.
Last Monday, as we welcomed everyone back, we noticed how happy and excited the students were to be at school and see their old friends. This short video truly warms our hearts as we watch them grow and play harmoniously with their friends, reflecting the spirit of our close-knit community.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal
