WHOLE SCHOOL No 24
WHOLE SCHOOL No 24
Dear GJS Community Members:
Looking forward to next week as we take our final opportunities to cheer on and celebrate our students, faculty and parents while sharing fond memories and kind words with each other. I am certain that it will be a week of smiles and laughs, accompanied by more than a few tears of satisfaction and joy!
It bears repeating: Thank you to the students, parents, faculty, and staff who bring so much to our little corner of the educational universe. The space we share together, Global Jaya School, is so truly warm, welcoming, and SO SPECIAL. Through my educational trajectory of thirty-two years, spanning ten schools across five continents, hand on heart, I speak from a place of appreciation when I share with you that schools like ours are so special because they are not common. It has been my pleasure to serve this community and the stakeholders who comprise it.
Warm Regards,
Cory Carson, Head of School

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Primary Parents,
As we approach the end of another successful year, we cannot help but reflect on the wonderful journey we have been on together. Next week marks an exciting milestone for our Year 6 students as they celebrate their graduation from Primary School. The graduation ceremony will be a joyful occasion to commemorate their achievements and growth in the Primary Years Program. It will also be an emotional one as we say goodbye to those leaving us and we wish them well as they embark on a next chapter of their educational journey.
We are excited to share the Global Jaya School Summer Reading Challenge! This program is designed to keep your reading skills sharp while having fun throughout the summer break. We encourage students to explore diverse formats such as comic books, graphic novels, recipes, and more and track their progress by noting the book titles they read and capturing photos of their reading adventures to share with their teachers. Complete the GJS Summer Reading BINGO card (Reception to Year 5) and Kindy Literacy Bingo card (for Kindergarten) to earn house points and receive special recognition at our August Assembly.
Kind Regards,
Lavesa Devnani, Primary Principal

Congratulations to Colin Francis Speranza from Year 4A. He participated in the Indonesia Honor Orchestra on 18-19 May 2024. The Indonesia Honor Orchestra is an event whose acceptance is only by audition and is open for violinists aged 9-16 years old. Participants from the school and music centre in Indonesia joined the workshop for 2 days and closed with the grand concert. At this event, Colin had auditioned and won the place as section leader for the string junior orchestra. Well done, Colin!
SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Global Jaya Secondary Community,
As we approach the end of the school year, we encounter a familiar experience, especially in international schools, the transition of students and teachers to new endeavors. We have students who will leave Global Jaya and move onto new and different schools, and we also have teachers who will retire or seek new experiences in different schools around the world. While this is a normal part of working in schools, it's also important that those who are leaving and those who are staying reflect on the experiences of the school year to help with the transition to new experiences.
In case you are looking for strategies and guidance to help with the goodbyes, I encourage you to explore the RAFT method. This approach guides our students through four domains to leave school on with a positive mindset: Reconciliation, Affirmation, Farewell, and Think Destination. Hopefully, these ideas help shape conversations at home with families who are leaving this year or for students who are returning next year but have friends who are leaving the school.
Sincerely,
Dr. Howard Menand, Secondary Principal

It was wonderful to celebrate the acheivements of our year 10 students at the MYP Certificate Ceremony. In many ways, this event represents the culmination of work and accomplishments of our year 10 students throughout the MYP journey.
Thank you to Pak Irwan and Pak Dodin for their leadership in supporting our students with the Design Exhibition that took place this week. The student presentations demonstrated the design cycle, creativity, ingenuity and innovation.
TSAN 2024
Global Jaya School Parent Association will hold the annual Teachers Staff Appreciation Night on Friday, June 7th 2024, at Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), Global Jaya School. TSAN is a special night dedicated to our very own hardworking teachers and staff; this year, the theme will take us on a nostalgic route back to the 90s.
The Parent Association has prepared many fun activities for teachers and staff to participate in, as well as to enjoy throughout the night, from Singing Battle, Dance-Of and Guess The 90s Songs? And, of course, many Prizes have been prepared for teachers and staff.
Students from all year levels of Global Jaya School will also take part in the night by showcasing their talents in performances from dancing, singing and live band crafted especially for their teachers and all Global Jaya communities.
We sincerely hope the teachers and staff of Global Jaya School will have a tremendous and fabulous night full of celebration, dedicated truly to them!
Let’s get the party started!
