The Georgetown MBA program's Opening Term is an intensive three-week period that serves as an introduction to the curriculum through the "Structure of Global Industries" course. Click here to view the full Opening Term Schedule.
Navigate to the FX-Hilltop/Bulldog tab to see your schedule for the Structure of Global Industries (SGI, BADM 5500) class, during this intensive three-week period. Note that the class schedule is subject to change.
Be sure to mark your calendar for all Opening Term sessions through Friday, Aug. 22! That includes class offsite throughout the first weekend, and class on campus the second Saturday. This is a more intensive schedule with commitments beyond the typical core class schedule you’ll have after Opening Term.

Join the MBA Program Office for a festive sendoff as we wrap up Opening Term with a night of celebration. Enjoy light food, drinks, a DJ, and great company. Faculty will also announce the winners of the Best Opening Term presentations.

3- FX Offsite Weekend (August 8 - August 10)
Get ready for the FX Offsite Weekend—an immersive class weekend for SGI with great opportunities to get to know fellow Flex students! Your overnight hotel stays are sponsored by the MBA Program Office.
🗓 Dates: Friday, August 8 – Sunday, August 10
📍 Location: Bethesda Marriott | 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, MD
⏰ Arrival Time: Please arrive by 8:30 AM on Friday to check in with the MBA team and enjoy breakfast.
Key Reminders:
You’ll have class and team commitments from Friday morning through Sunday at lunchtime—make sure to take off work that Friday.
If you signed up to take the free shuttle from campus to the hotel:
The bus will leave promptly at 7:45 a.m. on Friday from the corner of Prospect Street and Tondorf Road on campus.
The bus will depart the Marriott after lunch on Sunday, Aug. 10 to return to Georgetown.
Accommodations
Single occupancy rooms have been booked, and paid for, at the hotel for all enrolled students.
The expectation is that all students will spend the full weekend (including Friday and Saturday night) at the hotel.
Hotel check-in/out:
When you arrive at the hotel please proceed to the MBA check-in area. We will provide an area to leave your luggage for safe-keeping until after class ends later that day.
After approximately 4 p.m., you will be able to check-in to your room. A credit card will be required at check in for incidentals (even if you do not plan on ordering room service or spending any money). There is no other expected cost for students, unless you plan on paying for parking (see below).
Check-out by 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Transportation
Program-Sponsored Bus
A program-sponsored bus is available to transport you to and from campus to the Bethesda Marriott.
Please submit the Opening Term FX28 Transportation Survey by Tuesday, Aug. 5 11:59 p.m. if you are interested in taking the bus.
Note: The bus will depart from Georgetown campus at the corner of Prospect Street and Tondorf Road at 7:45 a.m. SHARP on Friday, Aug. 8 and will depart the Marriott around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 to return to Georgetown campus.
Drive/Carpool
You have the option of driving yourself or carpooling with classmates.
Parking is $19/day throughout the weekend ($57 total).

Sunday: breakfast and lunch
Throughout: snacks and coffee
Attire
Dress is casual.
We recommend you dress in layers as temperatures in the hotel are unpredictable.
Supplies
Please be sure to bring your own laptop and charger (all students will need to use a computer).
A paper nameplate will be provided for you while off campus.
4- Flex (FX) and Flex Online (FXO) Nationals Game (August 17)
Join the Student Government Association–Flex (SGA-FX) for a fun day at Nationals Park on Sunday, August 17 as the Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies! This is a great opportunity for FX and FXO students to connect with classmates, meet peers across both programs, and build your MBA network in a relaxed setting.
When: Sunday, Aug. 17, 11:35 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: Nationals Park (1500 South Capitol St SE, Washington, DC 20003, United States)
Tickets: Buy on HoyaConnect between July 25 to July 31 (priority)
5- Fall Class Begins (August 27, 2025)
The fall semester officially kicks off on Wednesday August 27. Please note: classes will follow a Monday schedule on this day.
Be sure to check the MBA Academic Calendar and prepare in advance based on your faculty's Canvas course sites.
