See the Course Load Expectations by Class Year document for more info on this.
How do I Add Myself to the Waitlist?
GU Experience will return an error at the top of the page if you try to register for a class with no more available seats.
To add yourself to the waitlist: in the Action drop-down next to the course, select Waitlist and click submit.
Will Adding Myself to Multiple Waitlists Count Against my Credit Maximum in GU Experience?
No! You can add yourself to as many waitlists as you like - "waitlist" credits will not be counted towards your credit maximum in GU Experience.
I Added Myself to a Waitlist. What Should I do Now?
We are unable to predict the chances of students winning a seat from the waitlist, as this depends on whether other students choose to drop the course.
Be sure to check your email daily for an email from the Registrar's Office indicating that you have won a seat, and be sure to follow the instructions they lay out in the email to claim your seat (you'll have about 23 hours to accept the seat). In the case that you do win a seat, you might need to drop an elective or two that you are currently registered for in order for you to have the room to add additional credits to your registration.
While there is always a chance you might win a waitlist seat, you should still register for another class in the meantime - the waitlist will not affect your credit load for the term, and if you get a seat in the class you want, you can drop the extra elective to add the waitlisted course.
I See that a Seat is Available in GU Experience. Why won't the system let me register?
When a student drops a class that is full with a waitlist, it will look as though that seat is available. However, that seat will be reserved for the next person on the waitlist until their time expires to accept the seat.
Why Can't I Add Myself to the Waitlist for a Class?
Waitlists get "purged" (removed) after a specific date for any given term. After waitlists are purged, there will be no more waitlists for any electives in that term, and seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
For instance, Fall semester waitlists are purged at the end of Mod 1 add/drop. There's a short window of time for you to add Mod 1 classes if seats become available. You have until the end of the first week of Mod 2 to try to get a seat in these electives before Mod 2 add/drop ends.
Reference the Registration Page for specific waitlist purge dates by term.
Can I Wait to Drop a Class Until I Know if I can Get Into the Class I Want to Add?
Yes, add and drop the classes in the same transaction, and use the conditional add/drop checkbox in GU Experience.
How do I Withdraw from a Class?
Submit your request in GU Experience using these instructions. Your program advisor will review your request. If/when approved, your request will be processed in approximately 3-5 business days. You will then see a "W" for the course with 0 credits and no grade.
What is an ILE?
See information about ILEs here.
Do we Sign Up for ILEs in the Same Place as the Other Classes?
Yes, registration for ILEs is at the same time as other electives.
I'm Registered for a Class. Why don't I Have Access to the Canvas Course Site?
Canvas access is given automatically to those who successfully register for a course. When you register in GU Experience, the next day you will have access to the Canvas course site. It is an overnight process.
Where Can I See What Module a Class is Offered in?
There is a column that indicates module and ILE period on the semester's MBA Schedule of Classes google spreadsheet.
How Can I Plan Ahead for All the Electives I want to Take During the Program?
The Registration page is the best place to start for finding information on course planning, syllabi archives, and more.
When you are planning ahead for future semesters, use the Typical MBA Course List and Term Offered doc rather than the Plan Ahead feature in GU Experience for a more accurate list until schedules are finalized for that term. However, this list is still subject to change for 2026-2027.
See more info on how to choose your MBA electives!
Where can I See Which Classes are Offered this Term and Have STEM/Certificate designation?
This is indicated in the far right column of the MBA Schedule of Classes google spreadsheet.
Can I Register for Classes Outside of the MBA Program?
Yes, see the Supplemental Opportunities page for details on opportunities such as cross registration at other Georgetown and MSB graduate programs.
Is Peer Advising Available for Registration?
Yes! Please contact our MBA Program Ambassadors with your questions.
I Successfully Registered for Classes. Can I Add my Class Schedule to my Google Calendar?
Yes! Please reference this guide on how to add your class schedule from GU Experience to your Google Calendar. Be sure to note the necessary modifications/adjustments on slide 15.
How do I view my Holds?
Check for holds on your account in GU Experience under your Student Profile in the top right corner and see how you can resolve them along with other registration barriers.
Review all University communication and take action steps before deadlines to provide local off-campus addresses, resolve financial holds, submit immunization information, and complete sexual assault prevention and honor council training. Holds take multiple business days to resolve. If you have a hold when registration opens for your class, you will lose priority to register. No one can restore that priority for you retroactively.

I have a Financial Hold and/or a Summer School Hold on my Student Account in GU Experience. What Should I Do?
Students with an unpaid balance will have a registration hold placed on their record.
You can make payment online, as well as review your account balance, the recent billing statement and your current account activity, on Student Account Services, accessible via GU Experience.
The “How Do I” section of the University's Office of Revenue and Receivables' site offers detailed instructions on how to access these resources. Contact them at studentaccounts@georgetown.edu or 202-687-7100 with further questions regarding your outstanding balance or timeline for removing the hold. Their office is in White Gravenor Hall - Lower Level. Only the billing office can remove financial holds.
I have an Academic Integrity ("Honor Council") Hold in GU Experience. What Should I Do?
All first-year students must complete the Academic Integrity ("Honor Council") Tutorial in Canvas with a score of 75% or greater.
Deadline: Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. EST

I have an Immunization Hold in GU Experience. What Should I Do?
FT & FX students must submit immunization documentation and required forms via the Georgetown Student Immunization Portal.
Your account in the immunization portal will automatically show the specific immunization requirements that apply to you based on your age, history, and course of study.
Students under 26 years of age and students requiring TB testing will require verification of health information with a form
signed by their health care provider. Please allow adequate time to complete this step.
Submit all required health forms and documentation by August 1 for the Fall semester and by December 15 for the Spring semester to avoid holds being placed on your account.
Review any communications you have received from the University Registrar, Student Health & Public Health if your immunization record is incomplete. For further assistance and guidance see the Immunization FAQ Page or contact hoyavaxa@info.georgetown.edu.
I have a Mandatory Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students Training Hold in GU Experience. What Should I Do?

Deadline: Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
Follow the instructions you received from Maria Snyder about how to access this online training.
A hold preventing registration in future classes will be placed on student accounts after Oct. 20 for those who don’t achieve passing scores.
Can the Program Office Remove Holds for Me?
No, the Program Office is not authorized or able to remove any kind of hold from your GU Experience account.
Can the Program Office Register me for Classes I wasn't Able to get Into Because of a Hold?
No, if you have a hold when registration opens for your class, you will lose priority to register. No one can restore that priority for you retroactively.
I am Experiencing Unusual Technical Issues Searching/Registering for Classes in GU Experience.
Here are a few possible solutions to technical issues with accessing GU Experience:
1. Open a new browser window (not just a new tab) and try again.
2. Clear your cache/cookies and reopen your browser. Alternatively, you can also open a browser in incognito mode and search from there.
3. Make sure you are on a secure network, i.e. Saxanet, NOT Guestnet. You may also run into issues accessing GU Experience from your employer's network.
If these methods do not work, please reach out to mbaprogramoffice@georgetown.edu and help@georgetown.edu.
I am Getting a Time Conflict (or Other Error) When I Try to Register for a non-academic class like Tennis or Music. Can You Help?
Submit this form if you need assistance registering for Leisure and Recreation class in GU Experience.
I am Getting an Error That Says "Maximum Hours Exceeded." What Does That Mean? Is There a Limit to How Many Classes I Can Take?
You have already registered for the maximum number of credits available to you right now.
I am Getting an Error that Says "Prerequisite or Test Score Error." What Does That Mean?
You have not registered for a class that is a prerequisite or corequisite for another class you are attempting to register for.
Is There Any Way That I Can Take an Elective That Requires a Core Prerequisite, Without Having Completed the Prerequisite Course?
If you have a relevant background in the prerequisite core course subject matter, you are welcome to follow these steps in order to try to register for the elective that requires a core prerequisite:
In order to be able to register for a course that requires a core course as a prerequisite, you will need to obtain a written prerequisite waiver from the faculty member of the elective.
To do so, please email the faculty, explaining your professional background or any other relevant details/justifications as to why you should be granted a waiver to take the course prior to taking the required core prerequisite. Ask the faculty to grant their written approval to take the elective.
You will then need to forward the faculty waiver to the Program Office (or your advisor, or both) and we will process the waiver request, which will lift the restriction in the system, allowing you to register for the course.
When I Try to Register for a Class, I Get a Restriction Error. What Does That Mean? (e.g. Program Restriction, Department Restriction, Class Restriction, Field of Study Restriction)
In many cases, you are trying to register for a class that has a prerequisite or is restricted to Full-time, Flex, Flex Online, or certificate students. Reference the "Prerequisites" and "Restrictions & Cohort Priority" column of the Class Schedule doc to determine which restriction is preventing you from registering.
You may also be running into the issue of trying to register for a course not offered by the MBA Program. For instance, other programs within the University offer courses with the same title as MBA courses, but because these courses are not offered by the MBA Program, you will run into a restriction when trying to register for them.
To ensure that you are always searching for MBA courses, be sure to search by the course by CRN (the unique coding number for that class and section) in the keyword section or "CRN" section of GU Experience. You can find the course CRNs on the Schedule of Classes document ("CRNs" column), which can be found on the Registration page.
Am I on Track to Graduate?
Generally, you need passing grades in 54 MBA credits - including 31.5 core credits and 22.5 elective credits - as well as a minimum 3.000 cumulative GPA, a fewer than 6 credits of failed coursework, to receive the MBA degree. See the MyDegree audit within GU Experience for a more detailed look at your status. Use the "what if" scenarios to check your status for the Management Science major and MBA certificates. Contact your advisor with questions.
Where do I find my degree audit?
Login to GU Experience.
Select the Student Services tab
Select MyDegree.
MyDegree shows overall credit and course requirements for graduation, core requirements, and (if your major is declared) major requirements.
Why aren't my courses current on MyDegree audit?
When you add/drop courses in GU Experience, changes are instantly shown on your MyDegree audit. In MyDegree, click on the refresh button on the top left of the page under Degree Audit. Your current courses should then appear below in the audit.
What does the Additional Items section of the MyDegree audit mean?
These are classes that don't automatically count toward your degree. Approved cross-registration courses at other Georgetown or MSB graduate programs will be adjusted to count toward your MBA Electives before your graduation; contact the Program Office to request an earlier update.
Am I Required to Take Intensive Learning Experience (ILE) Electives to Graduate?
Enrollment in Intensive Learning Experience (ILEs) electives is not required for graduation.
However, if you do not take ILEs, you will need to make up the credits elsewhere to stay on track for your intended graduation date.
Student visa holders must still take a total of 15 credits during their 1st year spring, including at least four courses per module.
Can I Count an Elective Towards More Than One Certificate?
Yes. The same course can be counted toward more than one MBA Certificate. Students can complete up to two certificates.
Can I Count an Elective Toward the STEM Major and a Certificate?
Yes. You can count the same elective toward both the STEM Management Science major and one MBA certificate.
