The MBA Student Organization Handbook is your go-to guide for leading and contributing to student organizations at the McDonough School of Business. Created by the MBA Program Office and reviewed by the Student Organizations Review Committee (SORC), this comprehensive resource outlines policies, procedures, and best practices essential for managing clubs effectively. Inside, you’ll find details on leadership requirements, membership policies, finances, elections, event planning, branding, and the process for starting new organizations. With clear guidelines and helpful appendices—including policies on alcohol, finances, non-discrimination, communication, and building use—this handbook equips you to be a strong, responsible, and impactful leader within our MBA community.
The MBA Program Alcohol Policy outlines expectations for the responsible serving and consumption of alcohol at student organization events. Aligned with Georgetown University’s broader policies, it underscores our shared commitment to student health, safety, and well-being.
All students and organizations are required to follow the Student Code of Conduct and the Policies on Alcohol and Other Drugs.
As members of the Georgetown community, Students and Student Organizations are expected to know and comply with University policies and procedures. Ignorance of a University policy, procedure, rule or regulation or an applicable law is not an acceptable excuse for failing to uphold these standards.
For more information, please visit the Georgetown Code of Conduct Page.
Georgetown University’s Protection of Minors Policy ensures the safety of participants under 18 in all University-affiliated programs and activities. MBA student organizations planning events involving minors must notify the MBA Program Office at least one month in advance so the event can be registered through Georgetown’s Minor Protection Page.
The mission of the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Affirmative Action is to promote a deep understanding and appreciation among the diverse members of the University community to result in justice and equality in educational, employment and contracting opportunities, as well as to lead efforts to create an inclusive academic and work environment. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Affirmative Action supports the University’s mission.
