FX students can take up to 3 classes per module with a 3.0 GPA by the time the overload class starts.
FT students can take up to 6 classes per module with a 3.0 GPA by the time the overload class starts.
FX and FXO students may request to take more than three courses at a time if they can document that they are not working or working on a substantially reduced schedule during the relevant module(s).
Deadline to swap Fall core is Friday, Aug. 14, 2026 at 5 p.m.
You must be registered for a section with seats available for all your core courses to remain eligible for graduation in your intended timeframe.
It is not possible to switch a semester-long core course in the middle of the semester.
Core switches are not normally permitted during a student's first semester, or during Opening Term of year 1 or year 2.
FX & FXO
FX & FXO can switch their Fall FINC 6500 and STRT 6500 core in GU Experience to the FX or FXO cohort, if seats are available. Use add/drop/waitlists until August 14.
Opening Term:
FX and FXO students are expected to take STRT 6505 (Opening Term II) with their admitted program. FX or FXO students with special circumstances can request to take this course with the other program, if seats are available. Requests are due to the Program Office by July 24, 5 p.m., 2026 so that study teams can be formed.
Students who need to make up STRT 6505 must be registered for an available section by July 24, 5 p.m., 2026 so that study teams can be formed.
FT27
You can switch your Fall STRT 6500 and/or STRT 6505 core with another FT daytime cohort in GU Experience, if seats are available. Use add/drop/waitlists until August 14.
Waitlists for all Fall classes run through Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2026.
Waitlists only run on non-holiday business days. See Georgetown University's holiday calendar for reference.
Waitlists for all Fall classes are purged on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2026 after approximately 4 p.m.
Waitlist "purge" means there will be no more waitlists for Mod 1 & Mod 2 classes after this date/time and you will need to register for classes on a first-come, first-served basis if/when seats are available until the end of add/drop for the specific course.
If you want to add classes afterwards, you will have until:
11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 3 (Mod 1 add/drop deadline) to try to get a last-minute seat in Mod 1 electives.
11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 30 (Mod 2 add/drop deadline) to try to get a last-minute seat in Mod 2 electives.
