No homework this week! Please continue working on math facts each night (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

ELAR:  Students will learn how authors use facts and opinions to support their claims in a persuasive text.

After 25 minutes of nightly reading ask your child why he/she thinks the author wrote the text. Was the purpose to persuade, inform, or entertain?  Ask your child to prove their answer with text-based evidence.  Phrases like "according to the story" or "based on this paragraph" are helpful.

Ask your child to list the order of the planets in order.

Order Your Class Picture!

Please use this link to order the Class Picture from Glamourcraft.

In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, we need to know if your child plans to attend O. C. Taylor or not. This helps us as we begin to consider student enrollment in each grade level, staffing, and class placements for next year. Please complete a separate form for each child who currently attends O. C. Taylor.

Honor Choir Audition Information

All 3rd and 4th grade students are invited to audition for the GCISD Elementary Honor Choir. Please open this Audition Information Letter for more information and contact Mrs. Vencill with any questions.

Do you have a career you think our Tigers would like to learn about? Do you have a connection to others that do as well? Please consider being one of our Career Day speakers this year! Click here to pull up the Google Form to submit your information and share it with others!

Check your child's GREAT Tiger folder each evening.

Please initial the folder each day. If your child has a note please take time to discuss the issue and make a plan on how to improve behavior. It takes all of us working together to create a successful learning environment.

Absences/Ride Changes

If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please be sure to email your child's teacher, Ms. Paola, and Nurse Katy. It's important for all of these staff members to be contacted in order for your child's attendance to be entered in correctly in Skyward. Thank you so much for emailing paola.cervantes@gcisd.net and katy.faught@gcisd.net along with your child's teacher each time your child is absent from school.

When making ride changes, picking up students for appointments and absences,  please email both Gene Guinane (gene.guinane@gcisd.net) and Paola Cervantes (paola.cervantes@gcisd.net) in case one of them is out of the office.

Breakfast, Snacks, and Water

Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast before school. We start our day as soon as they walk in the door.  Since we eat at 12:35, we are asking that you please send one small (peanut-free) snack and refillable water bottle with your child each morning.

Birthdays

Birthdays are special! We will celebrate your child's special day by singing in our classroom. You may send in small treats like pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. if you choose. Please refrain from sending in any food items.

Chromebook Reminder

Please make sure your child is charging their Chromebook each night and has their charger in their backpack each morning. Thank you for your help!

Headphones/Earbuds

Please be sure your child has either a working set of earbuds or headphones that can be left at school.  We need them for the work that we do with technology.  Thank you in advance.
