This week, children will learn about insects that fly, including bees, mosquitoes, flies, butterflies, ladybugs, and dragonflies.  They will learn how these critters fly, which ones are pests, and which one creates a sweet treat.  Children will also learn about hte metamorphosis of the butterfly!

All through Pre-K we work hard on perfecting our "fine motor" skills.  A big part of being ready to write is strengthening our hands, increasing our fine motor skills.  Try this fun activity at home to help your child gain hand strength and increase their writing abilities.

Using painters tape, a flat surface (a cookie sheet works great), some small plastic animal toys, tape the animals to the baking sheet.  Encourage your child to rescue the animals and save them from extinction!  

Extension: time your child's success and encourage them to beat their own time in a second attempt.  Or, have your child group the animals by specific attributes, count the animals, or put the animals into a pattern!
