Welcome to 3rd Grade
We are so excited to have your child with us this year!
Ride Change? You must call the office at 817-305-4870 no later than 2:00 p.m.
If you find your child must go home a different way than planned, please notify the office by a phone call by 2:00 p.m. Teachers and our front office staff do not always have access to email or are busy teaching or helping others. A phone call is required. Sometimes we have only one person in the front office, so we want to provide ample time to be able to meet your needs. Thank you for helping us get your Tiger home safely!
Learning Objectives:
Math: Students will use a variety of strategies to represent multiplication facts, such as equal groups, repeated addition, arrays and number lines.
Ask your child to explain how these different multiplication strategies are similar and different from one another.
On Monday, please check your child's GREAT Tiger folder for their weekly math homework. It is due back to school by Friday.
ELAR: While reading informational text students will identify the central idea and key details that support the central idea.
After your 25 minutes of nightly reading ask your child if the story is being told in first-person (the narrator is part of the story) or in third-person (the narrator is outside of the story). Ask your child to prove their answer with text-based evidence. Phrases like "according to the story" or "based on this paragraph" are helpful.
Science: Students will explore how structures and functions of an organism allow them to survive in a particular environment.
Ask your child to give examples of different structures or functions of an organism.
Social Studies: Students will identify good characteristics of a good citizen.
Ask your child to give an example on how they can be a good citizen this week.

Breakfast, Snacks, and Water
Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast before school. We start our day as soon as they walk in the door. Since we eat at 12:35, we are asking that you please send one small (peanut-free) snack and refillable water bottle with your child each morning.
Headphones/Earbuds
Please be sure your child has either a working set of earbuds or headphones that can be left at school. We need them for the work that we do with technology. Thank you in advance.

Please make sure your child is charging their Chromebook each night and has their charger in their backpack each morning. Thank you for your help!

Birthdays are special! We will celebrate your child's special day by singing in our classroom. You may send in small treats like pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. if you choose. Please refrain from sending in any food items.
