I hope your first three days back have been great! I have had so much fun seeing students laughing, playing, talking and learning! As we all navigate our way through new protocols, I appreciate your patience and grace. None of us have a playbook to look back on, so we are doing our best with the ever changing directions.
These past three days, parents and caregivers have had the opportunity to walk your child to class and maybe even wait for them outside of their classroom at the end of the day. As a reminder, beginning Monday, 8/23 please say goodbye at the red lines in front of the school or at the back gate from the Peralta side. Adults will not be allowed to wait in the courtyard, on the field, on the blacktop area, etc. Please understand we are not trying to be rude, we are trying to keep our kids and staff as safe as possible. If you have not already decided on where your child should meet you afterschool, please take some time this weekend to do so. As you know the traffic is extremely heavy in the morning and afternoon. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Back to school night is happening on Tuesday, 8/24 for 1st-3rd grade students and 8/31 for 4-6th grade students. Your teacher will be sharing the Zoom link with you. Please reach out to them if you have not received it by Monday before your event.
Join us at 4:45 for PE and Science Presentations, I will follow with my Principal's message and finish up with a few words from our PTA. Zoom link:
These past few days have been busy and chaotic at times, but seeing the students smiling eyes, makes my heart so happy!

I know how important it is for you to ensure your child gets to school safely. However, this year we must do our best to keep our campus as safe as possible. This means that parents/caregivers will NOT be allowed on campus beyond the red lines we've established at the front of the school. Families who use the back gate will not be able to come on to the blacktop. This will help us with trying to limit the number of people on campus as much as possible. I know this is a change from past practice, but we must do our best to stay flexible as we navigate the return to in person instruction.
If driving and using the parking loops, parents should stay in the car at all times. If walking to school, adults can walk their student to the red lines and say goodbye. If you drop off before 8:10, students will wait in the courtyard area for the morning recess bell to ring.
At dismissal time, parents will NOT be able to congregate as you may be used to in the courtyard, along the library wall, at the picnic tables. Parents/caregivers should establish a pick up routine: establish which parking loop students should wait for you, establish a location on the side walk or at the corner where you will wait for your student after school. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms and directed to go to their established meeting place for pick up.
If you plan to use the parking loops, please be patient. As you know we have two dismissal times. If your child is in 4-6th grade please do not come to the parking loop prior to 2:45 p.m. The 1st-3rd grade students are dismissed at 2:35 each day and will need to have the loop available to their cars. Please pass this information on to any day care provider who may not receive my newsletters.
Please do NOT park in any spot except those marked VISITOR. All other marked spots are for staff and teachers.
I thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Calling all 5th/6th graders! Would you like to be a part of the Junior Safety Patrol? Please see information and permission slip attached. We would love to have you help us keep our traffic flowing safely and efficiently.
If your child carries and cell phone/smart watch with them, please know that these devices should be powered off during the school day. They should only be used after school, after their bell rings and they have left the classroom. Students should not carry the device on their body unless it is a watch. The watch still should be powered off while wearing during the day. We cannot assume any liability for devices that are lost, stolen or damaged. We will be sending home a cell phone agreement for parents and students to sign acknowledging our policy. The class that submits 100% completion of forms will win a prize!
We send communications weekly to keep you up to date.
Reminder Emails are typically sent each Monday. Every other Friday we send our school Newsletter. Check your spam if you are not receiving emails from us. Occasionally, we will send a phone call message to our families. Please listen to the entire message.
