Dear Families,
As we wrap up February and look ahead to March there is a lot to be thankful for and I am full of hope that we are getting closer to life like we once knew it. In March we will begin ELPAC testing for our students who are English Learners, this should be good practice for the SBAC (Smarter Balance) test which is scheduled to begin in the spring for 3rd -6th graders.
Hopefully, you have all had the chance to create your parent portal with Infinite Campus. More instructions on how to upload your documents to prove address will be sent out soon.
Thank you to the PTA for awarding me with the Founders Day Award for Outstanding Administrator. It is truly an honor to be able to serve all of you and to work alongside such dedicated staff, students and families.
Stay Well,
Ms. Cho

As a reminder, anytime you are on campus, you must wear a mask which completely covers your nose and mouth. This applies to afterschool and weekends too! We have many staff who are working from their classrooms and are still on campus performing their normal duties. PLEASE keep everyone safe by wearing a mask at ALL times. This applies to students as well. Thank you for your understanding!
This year all enrollment (proof of address) for next school year will be done online. You should have received an email on 2/5/21 from "noreply@fusdk12.net" asking you to create your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This is a necessary step in order to proceed with securing your child's spot for next year. In this email, you received a unique activation code needed to set up your account. If you did NOT receive this email or cannot locate it in your spam/trash folder, please email: portalhelp@fusdk12.net
Instructions for submitting your proof of address will be coming via email shortly.
6th Grade parents should have received an email from Mr. Lewis, Principal at Centerville regarding their registration and enrollment process. Please be sure to read the information in your email and also linked here for your information. The students will learn about Centerville next week when Centerville staff visits.
Hello Parkmont Families,
Elections for the Parkmont PTA Board 2021-2022school year is coming up soon, and we need volunteers to step up for important positions such as Vice President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Parliamentarian. These positions only need a few hours of your time every month, and training is available.
The role of the Parkmont PTA is to further help our children in all their educational and extra-curricular endeavors with support, volunteerism and dedication. As a member, you will be making important decisions regarding our school programs, such as FAME, Reflections, Music for Minors, and Variety Show to name a few of the events planned for this year. If we cannot fill these positions, our PTA stands the risk of getting dissolved and lose the programs that help benefit our children.
If you are interested in any of the positions, please send us an email at: parkmontpta@gmail.com.

The Golden Sneaker Contest offers an opportunity for every student to participate virtually this year to use active and shared transportation options for fun, exercise, or essential trips. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join their children for fun, even though parent trips will not be counted.
Students will track their activity each day with their teacher, reporting if they did or did not use any active or shared transportation. The classroom with the highest percentage of participation of students using active or shared transportation options will win special incentives for both students and teachers.
Congratulations to Meera & Aditya, Jina and Elena for participating in the January Panther Family Challenge! We love staying connected with you all through our Panther Challenges each month!
This month's Panther Family Challenge is to do more of what you love! Show us what makes you happy. Maybe you love to paint or garden. Maybe you love to sing songs with your family or go to the beach and hunt for seashells. Whatever it is, we want to know about it! This challenge will end on 2/28/21. Remember you must be logged in with your FUSD google account to access the Flipgrid link. https://flipgrid.com/5dc74a41

The Summative English Language Proficiency Assessments for California, or “Summative ELPAC,” is the test used to measure how well students understand English when it is not the language they speak at home. Information from the ELPAC tells your child’s teacher about the areas in which your child needs extra support.
This spring, some children will take the Summative ELPAC.
Students in kindergarten through grade twelve who are classified as English learners will take the Summative ELPAC every year until they are reclassified as proficient in English. Students are tested on their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Your child’s voice is being recorded as part of the Speaking test. A small percentage of student responses will be used to validate the accuracy of scoring and will not be used for identification. All recorded responses will be destroyed after the scores are validated.
You are an important part of your child’s education. To help your child get ready for the test, you can:
∙ Read to your child, or have them read to you on a regular basis.
∙ Use pictures and ask your child to tell you what they see, or what is happening in each picture.
∙ Provide your child with opportunities to use language outside of school.
∙ Talk with your child’s teacher about your child’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to help support their progress.
To learn more about the ELPAC, go to the California Department of Education Parent Guides to Understanding Web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp.
You also can look at sample test questions on the practice tests, which can be found on the ELPAC Web site at https://www.elpac.org/resources/practicetests/.
If you have any questions about your child taking the ELPAC, please contact Johanna Cho, Principal (510) 793-7492 x66106 or jcho@fusdk12.net
