Volume 4 (20-21)

Principal's message

It's hard to believe we are already in October! Last Friday, we kicked off our first ever Virtual Panther Prowl! All classes watched a kick off video and did some warmup exercises. I know it's not the same as in past years, but this is definitely going to be a memorable event just the same! Some classes were even surprised by Parkmontee himself! Due to the air quality, the Panther Prowl has been extended until this weekend. If you didn't get a chance to participate, it's not too late! Don't forget to take pictures and send them to our yearbook coordinator: yearbookatparkmont@gmail.com

You may have seen on the news and on social media that Alameda County is approved to open school as soon as October 13th. I want to be sure that you are all aware that WE in FUSD are not opening for in person learning yet. The Board of Education is planning to discuss this topic at a Board Meeting in November. In addition, the Teachers Union (FUDTA) and the District will negotiate what returning to in person learning will look like. We will give parents any information that we receive as soon as we have it.

Progress reports will be sent home via email today. Some teachers will only be sending a progress report home to students who they are having concerns about, other teachers will provide you with a progress report just to report progress overall. You can request a conference with your child's teacher to discuss progress so far. If your child's teacher is requesting a conference, please make time to meet. Your child's success is our number one priority.

Sincerely,

Ms. Johanna Cho

Principal

panther prowl t-shirts

If you were unable to pick up your child's Panther Prowl t-shirt last week, please email Mrs. Sanchez to arrange a time to pick up your shirt. INTL walk & roll week!

Join the fun on International Walk and Roll Week Monday-Friday,

October 19-23, 2020!

The students, parents, and teachers at Parkmont will celebrate International Walk and Roll Week from October 19 -23. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our health, the environment, and our school spirit. With the suggestions below, we’re hoping every student will participate.

What’s going on?

» Lots of walking and rolling!

» Individual “passports” for students to track progress and log activities.

» Fun theme days every day!

» Activities for kids to do in their neighborhood or inside their homes.

» Drawing for prizes for kids of all ages.

A physically distant celebration!

While students are learning at home, students and their families should take active breaks throughout the school day. Kick off this healthy practice with this fun walking and rolling experience in your neighborhood, while maintaining physical distance.

Visit the IW&RW website to download the “passport” and log your activity! Students who complete the passport can enter into the prize drawing – a scooter and helmet for elementary students.

Students can e-mail a picture of their completed passport to

info@alamedacountysr2s.org, or text a picture to (510) 459-4137.

Post a fun photo to celebrate the week on social media! Don’t forget to tag @AlamedaCoSR2S on Twitter with #WalktoSchoolDay and #WalkAndRollWeek, and post on Facebook at facebook.com/saferoutestoschool
