What a month we've had! So much fun and learning in the month of February! With the end of the 2nd trimester coming to an end, it's fun to think ahead to the final trimester of this school year!
Read Across America Week begins next week. Please see the spirit days planned for next week and make sure your child is reading or being read to for at least 30 minutes to enter the raffle for a new book!
We are excited to welcome volunteers back on campus. Please see the requirements to volunteer in your child's classroom below.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Fremont Debate Club (FDA) will be starting a debate club at Parkmont. They have been running debate clubs at other FUSD elementary and middle schools. These 8-week classes are free and conducted in virtual format
4th-6th grade students SIGN UP for Fremont Debate Academy’s Parkmont debate 2022 program using this link: www.fremontdebateacademy.org/parkmont. Because of limited resources, we will be capping this year’s program at 42 students. Students will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis. The deadline to sign up is February 27th.
FDA Parkmont Debate sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. There will be 8 classes for this program. The start date for the sessions will be March 2nd, and classes will be held over Zoom (link will be sent out after registering). Our last session will be on April 27th.
Note: If you have signed up for Math Olympiad offered by Parkmont PTA, FDA can make accommodations for March 16th class (last Olympiad test).
Fremont Debate Academy (FDA), a 501 © (3) non-profit organization, will be running its first ever Parkmont Debate program. This program is only for 4th-6th grade students. It will also be headed by nationally ranked debaters from Washington Debate, and will put an emphasis on the Middle School Public Debate format. Students will learn various structured forms of argumentation, and research techniques. Through practice sessions, drills, and mini-competitions, students’ public speaking skills will be vastly improved. The final goal will be to give members a head-start into the highly selective FDA Debate program* for students attending Centerville. At the end of the school year, there will likely be a FDA international inter-school tournament! Once again, this program is for 4th - 6th grade students only.
Over the past 7 years, FDA has impacted over 5000 elementary and middle school students. Under our instruction, students and alumni internationally over the past 3 years have championed or qualified to elimination rounds 200+ times, accumulated 350+ winning records, and received 110+ speaker awards. FDA has also developed programs in 19 states and 8 countries, including Oregon, Arkansas, Australia, and India. Furthermore, students participating in FDA’s debate & civics programs saw a 39.1% improvement in their self-confidence & public speaking skills, and 90% of students said that FDA had a positive impact on their academic performance! You can learn more about FDA in the registration form and on our website.

During this pandemic, FEF has continued our support, although a bit differently. We awarded teacher grants, had a drawing for teacher Ipads/doc cameras/laptops, donated almost $100,000 for purchasing of chromebooks, sponsored a First Day Back to School Photo Contest and gifted a bundle of Social Emotional Learning topic books to every school library.
Interested in learning more about Transitional Kindergarten? Join us for an information night on 3/2/22 6-7 p.m. via zoom.
You will not need to provide any proof of residency to hold your child's spot for next school year until Maze Day in the summer. At this time, you will upload your residency paperwork at the same time when registering your child. Your child's spot this year will roll over to the next school year. If you move, please notify the office so that a spot can be reserved at your new home school.
Below are words from one of our current student's mother regarding her 41 year old husband. This student is the most outgoing, kind, and positive child. It breaks our hearts to see what this family is going through. We hope we can raise money to help this family. Thank you~
"I want to reach out and let you know that I'm a mother of two boys in 1st and 4th grade and I'm fundraising for my husband. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in 2009, which is gradually getting more aggressive. His condition has been quite serious since November of last year. It has been a couple of months since he stopped walking and talking. I am desperate to find treatment for my husband and the father of my children. We thank you in advance for your support. Your donation is greatly appreciated."
