As we come back to campus, there are some new procedures in place to keep the staff and students as safe as possible. Please read the new guidelines listed below carefully.
Again this year, all Back to School Night presentations will be held virtually. Your teacher will communicate the link for the meeting on your assigned BTSN night. I will be holding two presentations before classroom presentations on both 8/24 and 8/31 virtually beginning at 5:00 p.m. Zoom link
Are you new to Parkmont or maybe forgot your way around? Join me for a tour on Monday, 8/16 at 4:00 p.m. Meet me near the flagpole and we will take a walk around the campus to prepare for your first day of school!
Chalk the Walk is an annual event where we invite students, families and neighbors to come and decorate our courtyard with uplifting messages as a surprise for all of our students on the first day of school! Please join us on Tuesday, 8/17 between 4-6 p.m.
As a reminder, all Wednesdays are early dismissal days: 1:33 for 1-3rd grade and 1:21 for 4-6th grades.
We are excited to see everyone for these upcoming events, but please remember to wear a mask at all times.
Sincerely,
Ms. Johanna Cho
Principal
****First 3 days of school, parents may walk and wait with their child outside of their classroom. Parents cannot enter the classroom with their child.
I know how important it is for you to ensure your child gets to school safely. However, this year we must do our best to keep our campus as safe as possible. This means that parents/caregivers will NOT be allowed on campus beyond the red lines we've established at the front of the school. Families who use the back gate will not be able to come on to the blacktop. This will help us with trying to limit the number of people on campus as much as possible. I know this is a change from past practice, but we must do our best to stay flexible as we navigate the return to in person instruction.
If driving and using the parking loops, parents should stay in the car at all times. If walking to school, adults can walk their student to the red lines and say goodbye. If you drop off before 8:10, students will wait in the courtyard area for the morning recess bell to ring.
At dismissal time, parents will NOT be able to congregate as you may be used to in the courtyard, along the library wall, at the picnic tables. Parents/caregivers should establish a pick up routine: establish which parking loop students should wait for you, establish a location on the side walk or at the corner where you will wait for your student after school. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms and directed to go to their established meeting place for pick up.
If you plan to use the parking loops, please be patient. As you know we have two dismissal times. If your child is in 4-6th grade please do not come to the parking loop prior to 2:45 p.m. The 1st-3rd grade students are dismissed at 2:35 each day and will need to have the loop available to their cars. Please pass this information on to any day care provider who may not receive my newsletters.
I thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
