Theme: Using Self - talk
Listen to Mrs. Collins' Message first.
Self-talk is when we talk to ourselves in a quiet voice or inside our heads. Positive self-talk is when we talk to ourselves in a reassuring, kind, and positive way. Think about how the words that you say to yourself make you feel.
Choose one: Read the list of positive self-talk statements and affirmations. Then write down your favorite statements on the last page or decorate the self-talk shield below with pictures, words and drawings. No printer, no problem. Just write the affirmations on a piece of paper.

Positive self-talk can have a big impact on how we think and feel. Over time, using more positive self-talk can help reduce stress, improve how we feel about ourselves, and improve our overall health. We will be doing the following this week during our lessons:
Practicing Positive Self-talk.
Creating a list of positive self-talk statements.
Learning about the benefits of self-talk.
Creating simple crafts that help you to remember positive self-talk.
Practicing changing negative self-talk into positive self-talk.
Applying positive self-talk to real life situations and challenges.

Choose one of the activities below that is appropriate for your grade level. See if you can tell the difference between positive and negative self-talk. No printer, No problem: Tell your answers to an adult.

Start with a Mindfulness exercise with Ms. Kempf, the school counselor at Desmar.
Positive Self-Talk Journal (Click here) Choose one square to think about today. Then add to your journal each day. Write, draw, or tell an adult your answers.
Then Grades 2- 4 practice turning negative self-talk to positive in these Self-Talk Scenarios.
