Happy first day of October! This week, we have been learning about transitions and changes, and those of us who are going to be going back to the school building have started to get ready for this change. Sometimes, big transitions and changes can make us feel overwhelmed and worried. There are tools we can use to help us in these situations.
1) Try out this Five Finger Breathing video. See how your mind and body feel as you practice this breathing tool. Five Finger breathing is a super easy tool we can use when we experience a negative feeling.
2) Yesterday, we shared times that we showed courage with our Dolphin peers. If you did not have the chance to add to the padlet, you can still do so today by clicking here.
3) Spend the rest of Counselor Corner today taking a break from technology - spend five minutes doing something that makes you feel good! Maybe take a short break outside, read a book, play a game, practice some deep breathing, or do something else that is relaxing for you!

K-2: Let's Stay Safe and Healthy - a short story about what we are doing to stay healthy and help others at school.
K-4: A Little Spot of Courage - a story about being courageous even when we feel nervous or scared.
2) After you have listened to the story, think about a time you were courageous! Share an example of a time you showed courage with your fellow Desmares dolphins on this padlet.

This week's theme is adjusting to transitions. We have all been through a big transition these past few months since Covid-19 came. We have transitioned to virtual learning, to wearing masks, and to not seeing friends in person as much as we used to.
Some of us will be coming back to the school building in the next few weeks, and some of us will continue to be fully virtual. Big transitions can come with a lot of feelings, and it is important to get our feelings out - either by writing them, drawing them, or talking about them!
Directions for today:
1) Watch Miss Kempf's direction video.
1) Watch Miss Kempf's message video.
