Location scouts work to find the locations for filming or photoshoots. They also work to gain the ability to film in those locations. It’s also important that they have an idea of the creative vision for the thing that’s being filmed and what they want.
Tereare many opportunities to be a location scout due to the abundance of thigs that require on location filming
There aren't any specific requirements, photography classes would help, but they aren't required
time management and organizational skills.
You need to be willing to travel many places in a short time
You need to be patient
You need to have an eye for details
You need to be creative
it would be helpful to know Photoshop, or any other type of photo-based camera software to really sell the location
Lots of travel
Pays very well
You’re never bored with what you’re doing
You’re almost never in one specific place
Difficult to maintain relationships
You’re almost always doing something
Whether you’re inside or outside depends on what you are doing, if you’re scouting for a tv show about a school of some sort you’re most likely going to be inside. Meanwhile if you are scouting for a movie that takes place primarily outdoors, then you are also going to be primarily outdoors. Your hours could be from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep depending on exactly what you are doing, but likely you will be spending as much time sending emails, working on a computer, etc, as you will be actually looking around.
