Costume Designer

Job Description:

Costume designers plan, create, and maintain the clothing and accessories for characters/actors in a production. They custom fit each character/actor in order to either create a new costume, or change an existing one. They take requests from clients to design a costume around a certain theme and vision for the character.

It is predicted that the employment of costume designers, will grow by 2.3 percent by 2028, which is slower than the average growth of careers.
There is a large amount of Competition for designer jobs as there are much more qualified costume designers than the amount of jobs available.

Educational Requirements:

The minimum of a high school diploma is required for a costume designer. Most in this field obtain a bachelor's degree for this path, and will major in graphic arts or theater and fine arts.
